Will you wear makeup in labour or not?

Personally, I'll probably have other things to worry about when labour is knocking on my door :laugh2:

But I'd love to know how you girls feel about it?
Will you take the time to put on some makeup, take a shower or do your hair?

Nope lol.

I started contraction 7.30am in the morning and I was too excited to think about make up. I just brushed my hair tied it up and got dressed.

I went in midnight that night and I was in too much pain to care what I looked like.

After a 38 hour from start of contractions and 19 hours from 4cm labour I couldn't have given a crap lol.

Also they often make you have a bath when you go in and contractions are quite close. I couldn't have been doing with panda eyes and then having to reapply.

Fair play those that do though lol

weirdly enough i have put make up (not tonnes!) between contractions before heading to hospital with my previous babies

I cant see me doing it this time, with being so sick so this time ive gone weeks without it ( not something ive ever done in the past) so come to learn to live more without it.

I had make-up on for the births of my other three, but I used to be a lot more self-conscious about that sort of thing. I couldn't even leave the house without mascara on when I was younger; I'm naturally pale and people would ask if I was feeling ok when I didn't have make-up on! As I've got older I've worn make-up less and less, and now only wear it if I'm going on a night out or something. I think it'll be the least of my worries when I'm in labour this time :)

I put makeup on in the morning on the Monday and stood in the shower that evening before going into the hospital and never thought about it. I usually only put makeup on in the morning before going out so don't worry about it a lot anyway.

It will depend, I'll probably wear some waterproof mascara but only because I feel naked without it!
But don't think I'll bother too much about reapplying lol

nope.

I don't wear makeup all that often as it is right now. But with DS, I enjoyed wearing makeup. I didn't have any on when/after I had him. I even had a scheduled induction. I did shower before I went, only because I didn't know how long my labor was going to be.

Don't plan on having any on this time. And taking a shower before hand will all depend on how early labor plays out.

I don't see the point. My labour lasted ages so it would've ended up looking awful unless I'd reapplied it a couple of times - I had more important things on my mind. Lol.

I probably will put something light on like a tinted moisturiser. I have dry skin anyway so like to apply something to my face. This is what I normally do so will be nice to carry on with a routine so I at least have a sense of control over something lol.

I don't think so, I might have a shower and wash my hair if it's dirty (if I'm not in too much pain) but unless I'm already wearing make up I won't make the effort to put it on, don't wanna end up with panda eyes.

Last time, I had showered and put on makeup right before going into labor, and was so happy that I actually looked decent for the first "mommy and baby" picture (not the case with my first). So I think I'll probably take a couple minutes to make sure I look okay next time around, too. :flower:

This was after my second:

I think I'll have to put makeup on. I wear it everyday, it's just me. I too want my first picture with the baby to be something wear I don't look atrocious. And I've worked out hard in the gym with it too, and it stays put pretty well. :)

Haha. No! I don't usually wear makeup or do my hair anyway, though. Last labor, it was the last thing on my mind. Considering all the other things going on in the delivery room, I don't think anyone was paying much attention to my face anyway. If you feel up to it and have time to waste, no harm done, but by the time the baby is out the hair and makeup will likely not be so pristine anymore.

Yep I put waterproof mascara on with the others, so probably will this time as well :)

You look great! :flower: Don't think there's nothing wrong with a bit of makeup so you can look back fondly at photos.

If I've already put it on that day. I usually wear some from of make up everyday but I won't put any more on especially.

With DD it wasnt intended! I still had mine on from the day but believe me by the end of labour I had NOTHING left, I was throwing all sorts of water and facewipes at my face just to cool down! looking back at the photos of the day i look vile, but thats not important :) with this baby depending on the time of day/night things happen, i may or may not wear any, as i plan an epidural id like to sit there all glam ;) haha

Probably not. Unless I happen to me wearing it when labour begins.

I did with my daughter, although it all pretty much came off. I didn't think about reapplying once epidural kicked in lol. Maybe this time I'll make more of an effort as last time I looked awful in the pictures so only allowed two pictures and they aren't great. If I get the chance and remember then probably yes! I think I even left hospital without any on which is unlike me

No, will make sure it's all off. It looks better to be clean faced, than with smudged make up, for me personally. I will put some light make up on for a nice pic once i'm all clean and dressed after birth. But honestly I looked like shit last time, and i very much doubt that a hairdresser and make up artist could have fixed that. I expect the same this time, meh, it's life.
