Will you wear makeup in labour or not?

Like a lot of woman have said already, if I'm already wearing it then yes. If not, well I doubt I'll go out of my way to go out of my way to put it on.

Haha no. Last time I did my hair and put on water proof mascara, but by the end of labor my hair was a sweaty mess and there was no trace of make up left.

Despite wearing mascara (not water-proof) I didn't actually end up with panda eyes. This was me after my second and third labours, I was told I didn't look too bad considering I'd just given birth! :)

Last time, I had showered and put on makeup right before going into labor, and was so happy that I actually looked decent for the first "mommy and baby" picture (not the case with my first). So I think I'll probably take a couple minutes to make sure I look okay next time around, too. :flower:

This was after my second:

You looked AMAZING! Your hair is gorgeous by the way :)

This is what photoshop is for ladies lol! I have given the hub a tutorial on how to use the slr camera and good angles for lighting and whatnot and then I will go in afterwards and make sure there aren't any buggers in my eyes or nose or giant red blotchy areas on my face lol. I don't think I'll use the mascara/blush features but at least make sure I don't look like a night after the stomach flu lol. Of course I will send out some immediate iphone pics of baby girl but the "family birth pics" will get a proper edit

Thanks! You looked amazing too! (Cute glasses! I feel self-conscious about mine so I take them off for pictures.)

I showered as I was in labour because I wanted to stay at home as long as possible and I thought it might help with the pain. Figured I may as well wash my hair and shave between contractions haha. Then of course I had wet hair so I had to blowdry, but no I didn't put any make up on. I didn't want to have mascara running down my face or anything to make it worse haha. I will probably try to do the same this time as I think it helped with distraction a bit and I managed to labour at home until 7 cm

I've had two boys and with both, I never bothered with makeup, hair, etc. as long as I was comfortable. Now that I am expecting a girl, I think I might try to look pretty a little but not go all out with makeup. I hardly wear any and usually it's just tinted bb cream and falsies and a light blush. But then again, it all depends on when and where labor occurs lol.

I don't know what it is with this pregnancy but I've been trying a lot to be prettier lately and my fiancé seems to be more turned on since I've become pregnant! Might be because I'm actually carrying a girl this time?

Nope! After a near 2 litre blood loss with DS no amount of make up in the world would have helped me look good in those first photos. In fact, being even vaguely conscious in them was an achievement :haha:

Nope :) I never wear it anyway. I put eyeshadow/mascara and a bit of lip gloss on if I'm going out to a fancy do, but otherwise I never bother. I just want to make sure I'm freshly showered before going to hospital, if I have time, and will wash my face and brush my hair so I don't look quite so much like I've been dragged through a hedge backwards for the first pictures with baby :haha:

It'll depend on if I have it on already. With my first id spent a week in hospital before getting induced and makeup was the last thing on my mind so didn't have any on and with my second it was middle of the night so I had already taken it off x

You know, with DD's birth I totally planned to! I am a great lover of make up and wear it every day. However, when it actually came to it, I just couldn't be bothered. I genuinely didn't even think about it. I went into labour at 3am but didn't get to the hospital for a further 12 hours, yet I still didn't bother. Given how sweaty I got during the actual birth, I don't think it would have actually helped. I look HORRENDOUS in my first photos with LO!!

I will probably attempt to put makeup on so I don't look completely scary lol

I did with ds, I'm sure I will this time if I have the time. With him I knew I was in labor at 5a.m. but we didn't head to the hospital till noon, so I had to do something to kill the time while laboring at home. I actually polished my toenails and did my makeup after showering lol. I never go anywhere really without makeup. And the first thing my mom said to me when she came in after I was actually in my room was I can't believe your eye makeup still looks so good! It hadn't budged even after being in and out of the tub.

I never wear it. I'll be having another scheduled c-section, so I have to shower with the hospital disinfectant soap beforehand. So, at least I'll be clean. I threw my hair up last time. I look terrible after the surgery anyway, and really, once that baby is in the same room as me, all dignity or care for my appearance disappears anyway.

The title made me lol!

The thing is I don't wear a lot of makeup, I stopped wearing mascara a few years ago as it was irritating my eyes. I would just use a base of foundation. For some strange reason I've not wanted to use it at all since pregnant!

The thought didn't even cross my mind last time. i was too busy trying to breathe and control my screams before we left for the hospital (i did have a shower and washed my hair before we left though as I found it soothing).

My best friend on the other hand managed to find time to wax her legs and paint her toe nails when she went in to labour. She said labour or no labour, there was no chance she was letting anyone see her with hairy legs!

She looks gorgeous in her first pictures with her baby. I look like I have been dragged through a greasy hedge backwards. Still love my pictures though as they're very real if that makes any sense?

I did put on a bit of mascara and blusher for her hospital pictures the day after she was born.

So no, I won't be bothered to try and make myself look nice for labour, but I'll pack my make up kit in my hospital bag for next day pics!

I ended up being induced with my son so woke up and asked the nurse if I could shower and shave hahaha. I then did my hair and makeup!

Last time I was in labor so long My sister did my hair and makeup to pass the time (after I had my epidural). Hopefully it's much quicker this time but if not I'll probably have her do it again
