Will your baby take a dummy?

I'm curious if bottle fed babies are more likely to take a dummy than breastfed babies are. Mine just spits it out when I try to give her one but other people I know have babies that take it right away. I was thinking maybe it has to do with not being used to a plastic feeling in her mouth.
I'll post it in the breastfeeding section too so I can see if there's any difference =)

We changed 4 brands until DS finally took a dummy at 6 weeks. It helped him in sleeping through & dropping night feeds xx

Our LO took a dummy at 3 days old and he was bf for 4 weeks, such a strong suckler and no probs at all with nipple confusion.

my first son took a dummy straight away (the nurse asked if she could give him it as he wouldnt stop crying) my second son would not take a dummy at all, both my sons were bottle fed (second son tube fed till he was 7 weeks due to him being 12 weeks prem )

Jake will take a dummy every now and then when he's feeling irritable :)

yes, but it took ages to find one he was happy with. I dont think its anything to do with if they are BF or FF, its about them wanting/needing to suck. Some babies are just sucky babies

Jake will only have a 6-18 month MAM one!! Little tike lol!
He only has it when he's irritable too. He spits it out otherwise. I also have to hold it in for him for a while so he can get a proper 'latch' on it!! Bless him!

my first wouldn't touch a dummy and he was only breastfed (just) for 3 days...
my second was an awful comfort sucker on the breast, we lasted 5 weeks before we switched to formula.
at first she would take the dummy maybe 2 weeks but wont go near it now.
maybe breastfed have a stronger desire to suck?
I don't know! I know my daughter did...

In case anyone is wondering the results I have so far are:
64% Bottle fed babies will take a dummy.
32% Breastfed babies will take a dummy.

She takes it sometimes..other times she spits it out as if it's poison lol

I hope she gets more acquainted with it, because my first DD loved hers and it really helped with self settling.

My little one doesn't like them at all which I'm glad of as I don't want him to have a dummy he just refuses it point blank lol xx

As for me, my daughter is not taking dummy. I did try once but I failed, she keeps on crying like hell and I feel guilty as if I did something horrible.

Ava takes a dummy, first tried around 4 weeks I think & she took straight to it.

Mine refuses. Always has, and always will I suppose.

my lo refused one till he was 6 months and he started teething i offered one and he uses one now weve had no problem with him teething now x

Hana was given a dummy in the hospital (she was under the lights for jaundice and it was the only way to calm her down) and she loves it. She has a Tommee Tippee and also a Nuk dummy and loves both.

I am still breastfeeding and formula feeding, and Arianna loves her pacifiers. I was told to sort of tap it while its in their mouth so they know to start sucking.
