Where I live it can get very cold and snowy. I'm trying to find some warm clothes for him. He will obviously be inside and warm and cozy most the time. But we will have to bring him to and from daycare starting around 3 months old. I found this
https://www.carters.com/carters/She...l?cgid=carters-baby-boy-jackets-and-outerwear

I thought this would be nice and warmy and comfy for him but I don't think it will be warm enough? Even though he will only be outside for less than 30 secs while I take him to and from the car, should I get something a bit warmer? Like an insulated snow suit? Or is that silly for how little he is and how little time he will actually be outside?

Ahhh! I've never dressed an infant before!! I don't know what I'm doing! help!

i think that will be fine, iv got s simular one xxx

I think that would be fine... we got a couple of similar things at my shower- one was evern more insulated!~ But you also need to fit other clothes under it. You can always wrap a blanket around him too... he'll be warm :)

I think that's perfect, I was looking at something very similar.

Check out Babies R Us: https://www.toysrus.com/family/index.jsp?categoryId=3244792&view=all

They have a selection as well.

Dress baby warmly, add the little coat, and just top a fleece blanket over him (cover head and face) when you're going to and from the car. This is exactly what I'll be doing. I'm right across the river from you!

Yes, that kind of thing is perfect.

With my first I had a couple of those snowsuits and they were well used everyday.

I also had 3 beautiful baby girls coats (they were given as gifts) and they went to waste. Trying to put a baby in a 0-3, even 3-6 months coat is hard and I think they look a bit silly!!:flower:

I was thinking of buying it 0-3 but someone mentioned that you have to factor fitting clothes under it. Also I'm almost positive he will be an average - big sized baby. So 3-6 months it is!!

I've also bought a wallaboo car seat snuggy thing. Its all fleecy and you can zip him in or undo it if he's too warm. I thought it would be handy for shopping or moving him about in his car seat. No need for a fiddly coat then, just his snow suit. :)

If possible, warm your car up before taking him out to it. Then he'll only be out in the cold for the few seconds it takes to get him out of the house and into the car, and the car should be warm enough to keep him comfortable.

In cold weather, definitely cover his face with a blanket. Breathing in icy cold air sucks for anybody... my son really didn't like it, and he was 6 months old! Uncover his face when you put him in the car, of course. :)

I would use something like that little suit and when it's really cold out, a blanket on top of that should be enough.

I read the general rule is... put one more layer on a baby than you'd keep on yourself to feel comfortable. So if its just sweatshirt weather outside, put him in a coat. If its bikini weather, a onesie should be fine. If its winter coat and gloves cold outside... put a couple extra layers of clothes on beneath his snow suit and snuggle a blanket on top. It worked well for us, and its still the general rule I use, and my son is 2 now!

The thing aout coats for bein out, you're not supposed to have them too thick in the car seat, and can make the car seat less safe if coat is too thick, also, going from out size where it's cold and will need the layers, to in the car where they won't, are you going to take the snow suit off once you get in the car? As it won't be needed In the car?

I'm going to get one of those car sest wrap blankets with a hood, and layers of blankets on top so when she's in the car I can take a blanket off so she doesn't over heat in a super thick snow suit

Where can I find those warm thingys that zip up around the car seat? Do they have a name?

I have one like that, but still think the baby won't be warm enough in it, so can't decide what to put under it...or just maybe blankets over it? It goes down to -40 here....FREEZING!!

I am registered for this one :)

im buying a few snow suits and maybe a couple of jackets x

the suit you put in your link should be fine as its not a padded suit or jacket and will be plenty warm with clothes under it if nessacary use a blanket over that in the car but you should be good babies are at risk of overheating in carseats and of course you dont want padding on them as it will influence the saftey of the carseat straps. i have fleece suits for the car for winter for the boys they are great if your out in the evening or traveling

What you showed in the first picture would not be enough here in Quebec, Canada. It's autumn-wear maybe. I got one of these (link below) for the car seat which is supposed to be good up to -35 degrees celcius.

If the small coat you have turns out to not be enough, you are better off with this than a thicker coat because in a car accident, the coat compresses and leaves empty space between the baby and the belt and increases injury... With these things, the baby is tied on top of his clothes and then has this covering him and all he needs is a hat. They tie all the way up on top of the face if needed (like going from house to car in a snowstorm). I don't have any experience with this yet, but I love the idea of it!

That looks nice!! I don't think they sell those where I am. Mine isn't as secure, it has an open flap at the top, I don't think it'll be warm enough!
