as much as it is a awful situation and as much as we feel it is wrong, they live a totally different life/culture to us, and in their eyes adultery is just as as we see something like cold blooded murder, we can't judge another culture based on our standards sadly :(

They are sick fucks and should be interfered with in any way until they stop doing such barbaric things and i dont care if its right to interfere or not ffs a womans and many other womans lives are at stake for something so pathetic as adultery. And i dont give a rats arse about their beliefs.

They dont care about ours either so really, it doesnt make a blind bit of difference to them if we disagree or not. The UK and USA aren't the rulers of the world :dohh:

i know a lot of you say our government shouldn't step in but i think if i was that poor woman and i would be praying other governments would step in. I mean, imagine knowing that is what is awaiting you? what a way to go. No one deserves that. Iran are knowing for reguarly stoning people for crimes, adultery and homosexuals are the most common ones though.

I know our country has no right to step in as this isn't our laws etc. But by being asked we are under moral obligation. Plus, its not soley the UK it is the UN.

But what I was saying is, if you seen headlines saying "woman stoned to death for adultry and her son murder for requesting help when none was given" or something to that effect, would you still feel like our country done the right thing by not getting involved?

i am sure she is praying someone else steps in, however like you said, they are well known to stone people for things like adultery, so she knew what might happen to her (not that i am saying by any means this makes it right!) but she was aware of the implications of her actions in the culture of which she lives in

I agree with the others, whilst it is horrible and disgusting etc, their beliefs are theirs. I don't think we should be interfering. It costs us money (that we don't have) and will keep costing us money once we set a precedent.

i think thats so wrong,if we can do something to stop this happening then i think we should. why just sit back and let it happen thats wrong

i am sure we do things as a country that other countries & cultures disagree with, how would we feel if other countries came sticking their noses into our business, telling us what we should and shouldn't do based on their culture and not ours?

I don't see how sticking our nose in other countries beliefs is going to help her case. It'll just cost us more money and annoy more countries. We need to be sorting out our own problems before involving ourselfs elsewhere.

whats money worth against the cost of someones life?! ... the fact is we stick our noses in all the time anyways ! so why stop now ?! ;P ... also if we just kept out all the time then a lot of wars would of ended differently ?... and also we prob wouldn't be at war now if we kept our noses out but we don't

we can't tell another country/culture that they are wrong, dispite how we feel about it, yes it might save 1 woman's life but then we would be expected to do it over and over and over again

We have no right at all as a country to tell another culture how to live their lives, as harsh as that might seem

I know it's not the same at all and completely hypothetical..

..but imagine if we sentenced someone to life for murder and another country came in and said "We don't think that murder is a punishable offence and you shouldn't be able to sentence that person to life" - thinking about it in that way, you can see how their beliefs work, and how our social norms are completely different to theirs..

Although I do agree that it is a completely unnecessary way to punish somebody, horrific really. And the fact that the trial was not fair, I think, is a much bigger point to be made.

Were in recession! Cuts are being made all over the place, but they have enough money to apparently involve us in another countries way of dealing with things. Dont get me wrong, its disgusting what they do and completely wrong and it is very upsetting but I dont see what we'd achieve by getting involved.

as far as I can see... she was already punished for this "alleged" crime in 2006 by being lashed?? but for some reason the case was reopened & she has been sentenced to death

plus there is no proof she is actually guilty, just the judges feelings on the matter which is horrific :(

I understand people saying its not our business but seriously... how could anyone simply sit back and allow this to go on?? what if it were your mother in this situation??

its a tricky one but I think we are obligated to at least TRY to help now that we have been made aware of her plight xx
