are some of you serious?? we are talking about the life of a PERSON! regardless of culture, religion etc, it is discusting the attitude some of you have as a PERSON yourself.. it is inhumane.. especially for something as small as adultery.. its not even a decent way of a death penalty. seriously, watever the cost, its not like each of u as an individual will even notice it.. these women do not have a voice for themselves. so y not step in??.. we do it for wars everyday!!!

:dohh: Urgh. I really don't how by trying to think realistically i'm being inhumane or disgusting. I've said it's dreadful, I feel sad that this sort of thing can happen in todays world but that doesn't change my opinion that I don't think us stepping in will change anything they do.
Im sorry if you dont agree with me but it doesn't make me a bad person!

but how do we know unless aloud to try....

They also seem to think it's okay for a woman to be raped by her husband .. because he has needs .. :dohh:

So did we until it was outlawed in Britain in 1990's - yep in the 90's!

I think countries do change over time - for example apartheid only ended in australia in the 70's! However, often with a push from others such as imposing economic sanctions on them etc. You dont always have to get involved by going there but publicly expressing concern and limiting any dealing with certain countries does often act as a catalyst for change. We did many awful things not that long ago, and as you all know cap punishment was only outlawed in twentieth century!

Thats why I said people who think thats right, not entire as I cant speak for all but from what I see most do. I seen woman stoned for being raped also.

It is sick. There were some sad stories of this happening in Somalia as well. One where a girl was stoned in front of 1,000 people that was raped prior by a few men. Put to death for being raped. :(

I blame religions for the most part.

Nothing will change in this world unless people stand up and say "This is wrong". Everyone always says it's nothing to do with me? So who is it to do with? The people in her country are proably far to scared to say anything.

xx

It IS sad that in places like that women are treated as second class citizens. It's disgusting and horrendous that a bunch of men can unfairly decide a woman should be killed in one of the most inhumane way for something so petty that they have no evidence for. But if we had a system that THEY didn't like, we'd be the first to complain if they came over here shouting the odds and telling us we were wrong. Unfortunately some cultures practice horrendous things like this. It's sad and I our eyes, wrong, but to them it's just the law and they punish how they see fit. It's an impossible situation

It has been said she was spared because of the public outcry over this. I totally agree. People need to be LOUD!
I am sure there are a great many who are too scared to speak out there though. To rule people by fear.
:)

I seen pics of things like that on the net and vids, really stuck in my mind and upset me. My heart really does bleed for them woman,. they get covered up to and beat. Men have such a strong hold there. Religion plays a part to, they cover up brutish behaviour with it. I have no respect for them they dont respect woman.

It all stems from religious extremists....it is the reason why.
The Torah calls for stoning of people adultery so nutters take this so seriously that they carry it out. Their religious ideals and ignorance have everything to do with this.

Look up pat condell on it onn youtube, he hates womanising by them. I like his rants he speaks sence and wish more would hear him.

most of thats not in religion they just pretend it if. No where in religion is wearing a burqu mentioned its for men to oppress woman and the rest. They use that as an excuse to do things. Religion is man made and its even ok for them to kill in the name of it.

Yes it's written in many different bibles.
For instance, in the Hebrew Bible (Torah) there is a list of reasons to stone someone. It is "in religion". I agree it's man made but violence against women, homosexuals, men for other ridiculous reasons is written all over people's religious scriptures. Many people don't look at their religion as man-made and that is why there are religious extremists to begin with.

They stoned to death a 16 year old girl for walking out of the house with a man she wasn't married to, they stripped her naked aswell. Just made a circle around her and threw stones at her head, all men doing it of course, alot of them recorded it on their mobile's and nobody intervened .. have a search for it on Google.

I'm sorry but what they believe in is ridiculous and everything should be done to make it stop.

16?!?! She is a child for goodness sake poor little thing!

I'm sure a lot of people over there think the same about what we believe. Would it be ok for them to interfeer with our ways?

She broke the law over there and must have know she shouldn't have been doing that.

We can't go on some crusade and make everyone believe the same thing. Its not going to happen and if we tried people in this country would end up dying

But that's the whole point-this woman was not proven to have broken the Law, the Judges who condemned her to death decided she was guilty due to feeling that their decision was right, rather than having any evidence against her.

but a judge/jury's reasoning or feelings hold great weight in the iranian justice system. to question it is an insult imo. Thats how they do it, we do it differently.

Most people in the UK dont agree with capital punishment does that mean we have the right to wade into american politics and question their legal system - imagine the outrage if we did! Its not fair on this country.

No one is wading in though, countries are condemning it that's all. And btw our govt does criticise the USA over capital punishment and refuses to extradite anyone unless the death penalty is waived.

They way they are planning on killing her. Yes fair enough if they have capital punishment in their cournty thats their choice. But to stone someone to death is barbaric.

Wouldn't you have a different view if it was one of your loved ones or you sentanced to this horrible, disgusting death?

But we arent as a country taking steps to save individuals are we? We openly admit to being against it but I hear noone slating americans and saying their race is disgusting etc thats out of order imo. people should not judge something they know little to nothing about. this is how these people have been raised. Different cultures and religions should be treated with the same respect irrespective of how we feel about it - you do not have to understand or even agree with something to respect it. Thats how enemies are made. Thats how I feel - Its just not our place.

Like buttonnose said who are we to judge which culture has it right? Again everyone agrees it is barbaric and noone is saying that we think its fair.

Of course I would but thats irrelevant. Id be the same if I was american and one of my relatives was sentenced to death over there or even if a loved one was sentenced to life over here - even if they deserved it. makes no odd though. our views are that of somone from a different culture to this entirely so we are biased are we not. I know it may sound cold heartless even and I do feel for these women but we should be taking care of business at home imo

sorry I mean the burqu wasnt in the bible but stoning is as its been done for a long time there. Weird they say its not man made yet make up new things to do in the name of it,.

Thats just it. Was Hitlers 'laws' in his country ok. They weren't and they were put to a stop. Most america death penalties are by lethal injection now, they feel nothing. This isn't about culture, it's about humans rights and how they are being breeched. Liek I said before if we all trun our backs and say, it's nothing to do with me. Then this world are children are growing up in will no chnage or get better, it will get worse and no one wants to put themselves out for the greater good of humanity
