Its so nice to be on Maternity leave and not have to make the hour long train journey across london to work...
buuuuuuuutt....

How do you ladies pass the time.... im really bored!
watching the Wright Stuff and have the laptop on... just dont know what to do

Maybe coz its the 1st day of freedom...lol.

x

Tonnes! Cleaning, cooking, baking, walking, swimming, gardening, shopping, meeting with friends, sorting out filing, all the stuff I would try to cram in at weekends! Mind you I haven't much tkime left so I'm cramming it all in now really.

You'll get into a routine soon enough. TV is a bit dangerous in the day I find because I could end up sitting there for hours, so I try not to have it on too much in the day. I do get a bit hooked on the computer though, obviously!

xx

It is really hard to get into the new rythum of not going to work...and does take a few days..I found to begin with it felt like either I was just on my days off or on holiday!!!
Now though, I find that I spend the morning, doing little tasks that I have set for meyself...like filing, baking, washing etctetc, all those things I have wanted to do for ages, but have not found the time for!
I then spend the savo chilling (usually cos I have knackered myself out)

I find I always have something to do..even if its just sitting in my rocking chair to read a book or an hour!!

Its heaven!!

I've done lists upon lists! Cooked food for freezer, wrote birth plan, packed hospital bag, finished nursery, tidied and cleaned everywhere, had pedicure - do all those jobs you've always wanted to do! You'll love it x

I can't wait to start my Maternity leave, I have soooo many things I really wanna do but I'm too tired at weekends to do them. Only 2 weeks to go (and counting) :happydance::happydance:

I felt really at a loose end and quite lost at first, and felt really dissatisfied with the whole experience of being at home for the first few days. However, four weeks on and I really love it. I get things done during the day that just never got done before, washing, tidying, writing letters, sorting out things in the house and garden, cooking proper dinners, catching up with family and friends etc etc.

We have much more chilled evenings and weekends now, and also, my husband has realised how much his life has improved with me being at home, so we have both benefited.

You will settle into your own routine soon enough!

I'm the same, have enjoyed bing able to cook proper meals for me and hubby. and also being able to spend time with hubby. (he works shifts). He's noticed how much more relaxed I am and how things around the home are so much better!!!!!!

aww it all sounds so lovely :)
i think Monday is when it will really hit me that im OFF work and can just plan my day how i want to....
Really cant wait to get everything sorted out...its so exciting.

For those not on Mat leave yet... The last couple of weeks at work will really fly by... i cant believe how fast time is passing.

Thanks for the replies :)

hey i'm the same as you have my first week next week. i plan do go swimming and do just do productive things...not sure how good that will go tho!! i think i will end up watching a lot of TV to be honest. i have sky plus and am recording films that i know OH won't like so i can watch one a day hopefully!! xx

i am the same, although i am not on mat leave yet, just working part time. i thought i would absolutely love it but felt really tearful on friday coz i was bored and didnt know what to do with myself. all i have been doing is cleaning the house, which is great but i was wondering if there was more to life! all my friends are at work and its not like i have enough money to go shopping every day (i wish!). i feel ok about it now, i think it was just hormones!

Shall I be the first to say that I'm really not bored in the slightest, then?! :haha:

I WAS very bored when I first started, but we have the end of our building project to contend with, 2 horses and I had a pretty rough time earlier in pregnancy. Now I'm just tired. I do seem to do lots to keep me busy but I don't tend to have much of a pattern to it. I obviously have to do my horses morning and evening (unless my husband is kind enough to do them on his own!) and I spend a lot of time researching and reading around pregnancy, labour and birth. I've had classes to attend and have tried to make time to meet up with people. My cleaning tends to come in waves - I will have manic days where I don't sit down at all and other really lazy days where all I do is the minimum like the hoovering, the dishwasher and the kitchen/bathroom surfaces. Oh and I'm quite a good swimmer and was doing a mile a day about 4 times a week until about 32 weeks when I just had to slow down significantly. I find it really difficult now (on my hips really). That's only as I've got later into pregnancy, though.

So I'm not bored anymore. I'm excited and writing lots of lists and planning to pack hospital bags and things, but not quite finishing the tasks at hand!

I was like that at first thinking 'hmm what I shall do', but the weeks have flown and I've really not been bored much at all. I've washed baby things, got the moses basket sorted, packed my hospital bag, made sure I went and got everything for then, and then just relaxed, watched tv, read my books/mags, visited a couple of people, popped back into work to see all the kids.
Then when the baby comes I'll always be busy lol so I'm making the most of relaxing.

Pfft, I dunno either. I finished work at 29 weeks to move abroad. The idea was that I would get the house sorted while my husband found a new job, and then I could get ready for the baby, then if I had spare time I would sort our wedding photos into the album (which we still haven't done yet, even though the wedding was last summer). Unfortunately the move didn't go to plan (our things are stuck on our van in the middle of France until further notice), so we are living on the bare essentials.

I spend my days going to town and back and watching TV. I can't sort the house because we only have clothes here. Guh. I hope it gets busier soon, because I actually have a lot to do before the baby is born; if only I had the stuff here! I did buy "what to expect in the first year" so have been dipping in and out of that trying to learn as much as possible before the baby comes, and I've been window shopping for baby stuff (without hubby having a job we can't actually afford to buy anything yet, which is pretty frightening!), and trying to find a girls name!

I've just been signed off work and my note takes me up to my finishing date - I only had two weeks to go but I'm a bit in shock that I won't be going back to work for about a year!!! I don't think its really sunk in yet . . . but I think I'll write lots of lists and get stuff done :) Its such a lovely day today I've been thinking how lovely its going to be having the spring / summer off - I'm so glad I'm having a spring baby!!!
