Hi everyone well ive just found out im pregnant yesterday, however i am now panicking as next weekend i am working 15 hours on saturday and 13 on sunday :( will be driving a lot of it as i am a district nurse visiting peoples homes, i cant really ring in sick as i need the money but i also cant ask for my shift to be reduced as im not going to tell my boss until after my scan as i dont want to tempt fate this time round, anyway what do you think i should do, i was thinking of taking lots of fruit and snacks with me to keep my energy levels up and also lots of fluids. but will the baby be ok with me on my feet for this long thanks for answering :) :baby: PS i do this every other weekend (part of my contract)

Not reallly sure hun, i had to tell my boss as i work in a nursery and if anything like chicken pox or shingels comes up (which it did last week), then my boss needs to know to help protect me and bubs, I've not to change or lift any children.....so my job is alot more pregnancy freindly i suppose, just take some healthy snacks and lots of water hun  x

what do you do if your preg with no 2? cos i cant not pick up kailyn lol! -- i was a nanny first preg, and i still picked up the youngest who was 3 lol.
I would suggest taking lots of water and snacks - ive just been offered a full time job whch involves me being on my feet all day but im still going to take it :) xx

Fair enough and people have said that to me, but after losing Max in march im just very cautious :)

Oh no i completly understand you being cautious, i was reffering to the nursery nurse :) im sure as long as you eat regularly (helps if you have ms too) and drink lots of water and rest when you need to, you should be okay :) xx

Mummy2andgel Itoo am a nurse I work in A&E, I do 14 hour days 3 times a week and I have been finding it harder but as long as I drink plenty of water I am getting throught them, just fall asleep within an hour of getting home!

I work in anaesthetics my normal day shift is fine. But thus week I'm starting my on calls. So I have to do my normal 9 hour shift then stay on do my on call. Which could only be an extra 2 hours or it could be meeting the day staff the next morning. I'm nearly 7 weeks, I hope I do t get too tired.

it should be alright to do those shifts because u will be resting whilst driving. Im a nurse and work long shifts too just recently worked from 2pm till 8am UGGGHHHHHH double shifts, I was freakin stuffed lol just eat and drink heaps and rest when u need too :)

BUT on the other hand dont let any of us influence you! u choose what u feel is best for urself and ur bubba. cuz only u know how u truely feel chicky xoxo.

I think you'll be o.k. Wear support hose though if your feet tend to swell.

I'm so glad to see some nurses here. I'm a nursing student set to graduate 3 weeks after this bub is due. Do you think it's possible for me to finish my spring term or am I crazy for even thinking about it?
