Worried a little about Nuchal scan :(

FINALLY, I got the results today. NEGATIVE!!! I am so relieved. :happydance:

Ok, now I'm reading about false negatives!!

Why do I do this to myself? I mean, are these common? Anyone else hear of this actually happening? Why can't I just enjoy getting the negative result and be happy?

I finally got my results in the mail! DH practically threw the envelope at me when he saw where it was from. Everything is low risk! I figured it would be, but it's still reassuring to see it in writing :)

That is fabulous news!!!:happydance:

Hi all! I was gonna post a new thread but since this is related I'm just adding to this one. So I went for my second part of testing today and they drew more blood to test for trisomy 13, 18 and 21 as well as neural tube defects. My question is this...if my maternit21 test came back negative, why do they continue testing???

Now I'm all nervous again! :dohh: Does anyone know why they do this?

This is my little peanut today.

I was wondering the same thing. My second trimester blood draw covers some things they've already tested (Down Syndrome, etc), but it also tests for neural tube disorders like spina bifida and anencephaly, which the midwife said weren't covered in the first trimester tests. I don't know what the Maternit21 covers, but it sounds like maybe they can't do the neural tube tests til second trimester. She said they'll combine the first and second trimester results for a quad screen (https://americanpregnancy.org/prenatal-testing/quad-screen/), which is just a little more thorough.
