Hi everyone, I'm popping over from first tri with a few worries.

We have just found out we are expecting twins!! Very excited but this also comes with some concerns.

I work nights, 11 am to 7 am 4 nights a week. When we were trying for our first baby we thought a Singleton would be manageable and didn't expect to find out we were having two gorgeous treasures.

My husband works ten hour days, normally 8-6 or 9-7.

Hubby had agreed that a few night feeds would be manageable for him to then go to work and I would care for the baby in the daytime. Now that we are having two panic has set it in. How are we going to manage if hubby is up all night with the treasures then having to go to work bcos I can't help him as I'm on a night shift??

I'm honestly thinking I might not be able to return to work but we will seriously struggle financially.

Can I please have some advice on the financial help available for single wage families?

Thanks in advance xxx

I guess a lot will depend on how much maternity leave u take and how good sleepers your little ones turn out to be! I work nights too (7:30pm-8am) but I split mine so I do two shifts together, then a few days off, then my next shift. It's works ok like that but my LO goes to nursery on my "sleep day" (usually a Tuesday) and I only have the one. I didn't go back to work till he was 8 months and he was sleeping through by then so hubby didn't suffer apart from the odd night he was unwell or teething. I find I can cope quite well not having any sleep after a nightshify if I'm not working the following night.. I just have a wee nap when he does. Sorry I can't offer more advice re. Twins or financial assistance but hopefully someone else could. But maybe splitting your shifts might help, and hopefully they will be good sleepers xxx

Thanku dolly bird for the information. I have tried already to change my shift but my employer won't budge. They're being really unhelpful. As the keep saying over and over their business needs come first and I need to fit around them 😔 xx
