Worrying about scan measurements, advice please x
I posted this today in over 35 section but only one person replied.

Hi, I am 39 and expecting first baby after ICSI.
I had nt scan and was put at low risk, nuchal measurement was 1.6 at 13 weeks and nasal bone was present. I declined bloods as I had heard lots of stories of them being skewed at my age.
Had 20 week scan and no concerns were noted. I noticed head measurement was ahead of everything else but was told all was in normal ranges. I noticed when I got home that femur length was on small side 29.5mm, I am only 5ft4 and oh is taller but has long body. I have stupidly googled all this and see that short FL is a soft marker for downs. I hope I am worrying over nothing as surely if it had been short enough for a marker they would have said at the scan???

Thanks for reading xxx

If the femur length was short enough to be considered a potential DS marker they would've said something, especially since you're over 35. I don't think you need to worry about it.

Yea unless something was mentioned id try not to worry.

I can't help just say your not alone. One of my babys measurements was small.... Like 2 weeks behind! I'm being scanned every two weeks. If there was a problem with yours they would do the same huni xxx

Ok I had similar concerns about this recently! I had an u/s at 14+2 and they measured the femur length to be shorter (what I thought was measuring a week behind from the fetal age)
I talked to my doctor about it, and she said it was totally fine. There is a concern (if I'm not mistaken) if the FL is measured outside of the 7+/-.
Does this make sense?
If there was a concern your doctor would FOR SURE tell you!!
They also say that the FL is more accurate between 11-14 weeks to detect downs etc. So I think you are just fine!! HUGS!

Thanks for the replies girls, sometimes I wish google didn't exist and I could sail through pregnancy in blissful ignorance! :hugs:

I know its easy to say but try not to worry. I refused the NT scan at 12 weeks and when i had my 20 week scan they noticed that she had an increased Nuchal Fold which freaked me right out.

I have done none stop googling since 28th December, and im back there on Tuesday for a growth scan.

Remember if nothing was mentioned to you all is fine. The Nuchal Fold was mentioned to me but after much research it was only a soft marker and might not been anything.

Im sure you will be fine xx

If they didn't say to you its a problem then try not to worry. At my 20 week scan my baby's head measured right at the bottom of the scale, only just in the normal range. All other measurements were in the middle. They said it was fine but of course I googled it and worried for the next 9 weeks that there was something wrong with the development of the babys brain. At my 29 weeks scan it had caught up and was spot on for the dates. My midwife told me if they were worried at all you would be rescanned and seen by a consultant. xx

Thanks again everyone :hugs:
Mummy of Ange - good luck for your scan on tues, I hope all is ok with your little girl x

I agree not to worry and sometimes I think it would benefit us all if we were banned from googling! :D
