so, over the last five months I have been compiling my test data and i came to some conclusions about tests and evap lines.

During this time I have made an effort to test with a variety of different tests....

My number one for evap free reliability was actually.....

internet cheapies and dollar store- I purchased a whole bunch of tests (50) for 10 bucks from amazon and they have been by far the best for no evap lines!
Definite BFN'S.....no little smudges, or faint lines or shadows on these...even after 10 minutes!

Next best was------equate, although there were a few problems with these as discussed below!

The absolute worst for evap lines was CVS store brand EPT.....These are a pink line test and on EVERY SINGLE test i have had.... evap lines, that look almost exactly like faint BFP's (these usually came up just within or just after the 10 minute mark, one came up as early as 5 minutes! naughty tests, very misleading, i urge you ladies not to use these! If you do dismantle this test to get a closer peak, you will notice clear tram lines, very visible on the test strip prior to usage, and this must have something to do with the evap lines!

shockingly....

FRER (which i have always sworn by) also gave me absolutely shocking evap lines

although these all did show just as 10 minute time limit hit or after mark, the only thing that really therefore makes these SHOCKING ....is that the evap line were clear as day baby pink! they were absolutely clearly pink, and not that faint, not greyish, not purplish, not dingy, but PINK!!!!! definitely looked like BFP's...i even used one of these after my period, to be sure of the evap lines and yep, there it was clear as day...although prob 15 minutes had lapsed, but still, for those ladies who lose track of the time, or see it glaring at them outta the trash, it's very misleading!:dohh:

I would therefore definitely advise setting your watch by these tests and throwing them in the trash (and not getting them out again) as they WILL give false hope.

EQUATE gave me a false positive (within 2 minutes) as did clear blue with the blue line....twice...on different cycles!

also equate did give me evap lines...but these were after an hour had passed....

the bottom line is, i have found the internet cheapies the most reliable, I also urge all ladies testing to absolutely not read a test after 10 minutes, preferable not after 5! these evap lines really lead to heartache and misery!

good luck ladies!

wow you get a lot of evaps! I have never once had an evap just BFN's!! There isn't a hint of any other line next to the test line. Thanks for the info though just incase xx

I had clear as day evap lines on frer (after the 10 minute window) last month! Every test... They even came from different boxes!

This is really helpful! I have been getting internet cheapies for over a year and never have gotten evap lines. Then, these past 3 days, I have gotten what appear to be 4 in a row? I looked at the ten minute mark. Anyway, it really has gotten my hopes up. Thanks for the info!
