I know it's really late but I was at hosp for 2nd time yday and I had a real s**t time
The cons wasn't there, his sidekick was 2hrs late with no explanation when he did turn up he let the student midwife do everything, scan, felt my tummy, the doc didnt do anything he didn't even sit down he stayed standing at the door.when I asked about my feet burning the mw jumped in and said there's loads of annoyances you can get at this late stage. I had option to go mw led or cons led and I picked cons led ante natal if I wanted a mw doing everything I would have picked it. The final straw was when I asked for a rough idea how big baby was now and she said oh I don't know. she didnt even try to guess or anything. I had way better care with DS in hosp near my homplace but it's an extra 25min away makin it about an hour away from where I live now. No apt til 38wks now so its either change now or just keep goin and hope they do a better job nxt time I'm there????

Sorry for big long rant!!!
Thanks
X

Hey hun I think it is important you feel cared for when you go into labour so I would consider changing hospitals - I changed mine I was due to give birth at one but my friend lost her baby there and the MWs there when I went for monitoring for reduced fetal movement treated me like crap and implied I was lying when I said I couldn't feel LO move!!! I am now giving birth at a much better hospital and have complete faith in them to take care of me and my baby. x

i have moved 20 miles away from the hospital that i had my son at but because my son was born ill and their team were fantastic at saving him and they have far more specialised equipement than the one near me!

my point is dont worry about distance worry about the care! this is YOUR birth, my past birth experience has affected me throughout this pregnancy (lets just say i am only staying at my current hospital because when the midwives fecked up the childrens ward was incredible so now i am in a well if something goes wrong at least someone there can fix it) if you think you are in the hands of people that you do not trust to do the job properly then get the hell outta there to somewhere that you trust! the place you give birth is a big deal and if you do not feel in safe hands then that will affect how you feel during and after the birth xkx hope that all makes sense . . .

def change if you're not happy, I did! MW should be able to refer you over no probs xx

Thanks a mil Girls, I have just spoke to my gp who is sending a letter to the hosp I had my son in. I think if I just stayed quiet and went with the nearer hosp I'd end up regretting it. If the consultant I had the last time will take me again I will move over the gp said there is a possibility that because I'm so far gone he might not take me but I'll try anyway.
I done a course with a girl who lost baby in the same hosp that I don't like.she had a true knot in the cord, my DS had the same but because they were so quick off the mark at the hosp I was in I was sectioned straight away and DS was perfect!I'm afraid that if anything happens this time they won't know what to do... The cut backs in the health system are really showing their true colours now!!!

You are 31 weeks and your next appointment isn't until 38 weeks?! Change immediately. You should be having at LEAST bi-weekly care if not weekly at this point. I would also file a complaint with the hospital about your last appointment.
