Would you feel guilty?

If you had/want to quit your job, would you feel guilty towards your employer?

You know, thinking that you will have left them in the lurch?

Has anyone ever delayed quitting because of this?........ How has your employer felt when you handed in your notice?

Sorry for all the questions, but I am thinking of quitting and just want it to be as painless and guilt free as possible!!

I would just please yourself. I worried myself sick about how work would cope when I went on ML and they managed so well they made me redundant! Got a part-time job and found out I was pregnant again. I knew I wouldn't want to return after ML and I felt guilty for leaving them in the lurch so decided to work until they got cover. As it turns out they started being funny with me soon after I told them of the pregnancy.
So don't feel guilty....I know it's hard not to as I guilt-trip myself over everything but life will go on at work without you.
If you point out that you enjoy the work but it just isn't suitable for your personal circumstances hopefully they will be happy to wish you all the best for the future.
