Hey all,
Me again with more weaning questions!!

I fed my LO a bit of my plain yoghurt on my finger earlier cos she was looking so excited about it! She loved it and cried for more. I've just started her in purées and I know you're not meant to give dairy til 6 months but she was 2 weeks late anyway so can it really do any harm??
Thanks all x

I wouldn't. I gave full fat natural yogurt with fruit purée from about 6.5 month and I started giving fromage frais at just over 8 months (Petite Filous as they were the lowest sugar ones).

I personally would not bother until 6 months with natural youghurt and fruit purees. I, personally, would aslo stay clear of the peti filous as they have much more sugar in than you think, the Plum ones have much less...

I was wondering which had less sugar then Petite Filous, Little Stars had almost double!! The shop I was in at the time, Petite Filous was best. I'll be on the look out for better.

My LO has yogurt a few times a week as well as lumpy purees. She lets me know if she can't handle something I give her to try.

Fran had yoghurt from 5 months. She was exclusively ff so I knew she had no intolerance to dairy. Her milk intake had started to drop rapidly after starting weaning at 4 months too so it was a way of getting extra milk in her.

Same here!

And I buy her the morrisons value ones. It's so expensive to buy natural and add fruit purée and as long as se has a balanced diet I'm happy for her to have a little sugar in her fromage frais.

I give lo the yogurts made for babies, they are typically much less sweet and fewer ingredients. If you look on their websites they will tell you what age they are typically meant for but I think it would be just fine at 5.5 months.

I've never seen yogurt made for babies in the UK. I use Rachael's Organic ones.

We buy the little stars ones which are targeted at kids and there are also Plum ones

I agree that a little sugar is not such a terrible thing. We have the petits filous ones and they have 12g of sugar per 100g (6g of sugar per pot). As LO only has one pot a day at the moment I am fine with that.

Oh, and the petits filous ones say they are suitable from 6 months, so I don't think 5.5 months would do much harm, especially if you only gave LO a small amount

I'd say go for it. We also buy the baby yoghurts - I often buy Rachel's My First Yoghurts which taste so lovely I want them for myself (esp. the mango one). I also like Plum & Little Yeo's. Natural yoghurt with fruit puree is also nice. xx

yes i did, i started weaning just after 5 months at first i gave fruit and veg purees but due to my LO being quite little and skinny i didn't want him filling up on veg so i started giving full fat yoghurt and milk about 5 and a half months. I just use plain greek yoghurt and add my own fruit puree to it.

The only issue I have, personally, with the peti filou and little star is that they have added sugar, its not just naturally occuring. Plum, Little Yeo are only naturally occuring sugars.

Anything once you have started weaning, I guess if you have started weaning at 5.5 months then yes, yoghurt would be fine:flower:

Baby yogurt from 5.5mths - he's fine and healthy
