would you phone the police if a neighbours baby was crying?

I wouldn't have called the police but I would have popped round to see if you were ok! If I couldn't get an answer then yeah I'd have called.

In terms of apologising, I don't think you should, but I can't talk as I've just popped a note through next door apologising for LO crying a lot recently as she had chickenpox and teething. More in terms of a "I know she's being a pain, but I'm doing what I can" kind of way! Within 10 minutes next door knocked to say they had heard her but remember their teenagers being babies so not to worry (and if we needed a break they would happily rock crying baby to sleep!)

But calling the police after 10 minutes? No I wouldn't!

I like to think if they were genuinely concerned about a crying baby they would go and find out for themselves (surely it would be quicker than the police and they could offer support). To me if they are calling the police after 10 mins, and lying about how long they had heard the baby cry. They see the noise as a nuisance and are being selfish.

I would not be apologising at all (what for) and I wouldn't call the non emergency number either if your baby had been crying for 10 mins or so - if they keep calling the police I am sure they would be warned for wasting their time....

Hope that you are feeling better xx

I actually had to come back and share that I got what I deserved. Had the police called on me today!!
J took his nap in the car today and instead of waking him up when we parked at the grocery store, I reclined my seat and took a nap because I was just exhausted. It started heavily snowing after I fell asleep. A poor store clerk looked outside and thought a baby had been left alone in the car in a snow storm and immediately called on her cell since she was told not to leave her register. I woke up to a police officer knocking at my window. One of the most bizarre ways to wake up, I'll say that much.

Wow, not a single person in the store could leave to go knock on the door! Good thing you and J were still alive ;)

Coming back to this thread because my son had the most awful night last night 3 times he woke up and cried for an hour straight. We did everything to calm him down absolutely nothing worked and we could not work out what was wrong. Spent most of the night on the phone to emergency doctors and went to the doctors with him in the morning

no police call and I absolutely know my neighbours could hear because we can hear every little thing
