WRONG gender assessment--so angry!

Where did you hear that in Canada they aren't supposed to tell you gender at the anatomy scan? I've only heard they will never tell you a hundred percent what the gender is, but I've never heard of the technicians refusing to say it or anything. Just curious.

It's the rule here in British Columbia, unfortunately. You aren't even supposed to TALK TO the technician. When I tried to make casual, friendly conversation with mine, he was very curt with me and reminded me I wasn't allowed. My maternity doctor only told me as a favor several weeks later! I've assured her that I'll be happy with whatever baby I have, and we get along well, so she told me what was on the form.

Today I had ANOTHER quick scan--a local place had an opening today, and it didn't cost much at all--and it showed GIRL again. Now I'm just starting to laugh about it. You guys are right, who cares, as long as baby is healthy. I'll buy gender-neutral stuff and wait to stock up on clothes until he/she/it is born: then I'll go on an Internet shopping binge.
Same in ontario they wont tell you anything it gets sent to the drs but most will at least have a general conversation

I live in Newfoundland in Canada and they will tell us at our 20 week scan if they can tell the gender...of course, they're very sure to say that it isn't 100 %. Interesting how they do things differently in different provinces.

it happens alot...i actually got chewed on the forums a bit ago because someone went for gender scan and got told what the gender was at 16 weeks...i said dont go out and get anything blue yet cause it can change and girl parts are very swollen at this point and they cant tell..

i got so thumped on the forum for saying this...im not happy this happened to you but it goes to show it does happen more then often....that is why they shouldnt say anythng till the 20 week scan and then warn you it is never 100 percent

Sorry to hear that hun. Some women dont find out until the day of birth that they had it wrong so i guess its a blessing that you know now. It would be soooooo annoying I would be angry too. In the big scheme as long as bub is healthy thats all that matters :)
