You wanna know what really grinds my gears?

Short text speak doesn't bother me its no biggy! Sometimes it does get a bit much depending to what lenghts its used in.

Just want to say though that did come up in previous topic to take into consideration the following:
  • dyslexic
  • not everyone is english on here
  • slang words (not text speak)
  • and younger aged

It's pretty common around the sites, I use but it's fecking annoying as hell..

And also when girls put xxxxxxxxxx on the end of messages, don't see the point tbh.

Have you ever had this? Outside the cyber world you are talking to someone and you share a laugh together. Sometimes the word "LOL" comes to mind and I almost blurt it out while laughing.

Text speak can be confusing for me too. But I do understand that there are language barriers, etc. involved. My OH is dyslexic so I am very familiar with that too.

i am dyslexic and the only way i learned to cope was through practice and dilligence. Text speak encourages people to be lazy and makes mis-spelling socially acceptable.

There is a huge difference between "LOL" and "BRB" and "ei fink ei luvs mi bruver".

Each to their own, but it bloody annoys me! Takes ages to translate it

Leeanne i nearly to the LOL thing as well

I think that there is a time and a place for thing like that ...

Everytime i see OTT text speak it reminds me of the Ali G film where he sends the text ...

"connect da b8rz"
"what does b8rz mean?"
"batteries .. i was tryin 2 save time"

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

Well I have to admit, I dont use proper punctuation on these things, purely because I would be here forever finding the right keys hehe, and the fact that I use msn waaaay too much, I do type some words in text speak though-alot actually but thats my msn habit creeping back in, I just cant be bothered to translate some crapola that someone has thrown together which actually takes longer to decipher. I also put kisses at the end of my messages... to show my love to you ladies :D ahhh bless me

xxx there you go

edit- Leeanne i always do that! I go to say LOL out loud haha :)

Another funny thing is we are all going to be careful about how we spell stuff now incase someone picks up on it hahaha.

That is what i was trying to explain in my last thread, but you have put it so much better :happydance:

I sound like a reprimanding school teacher! lol

Watch your spelling and grammer!

lol! Emma you made me chuckle! yes miss Emma (sorry dont know your surname) haha

Well,I'm 18 and I don't like when people use text talk...It annoys me,makes messages harder to read and I just simply don't see the point in misspelling words...
Dyslexic people and people from other countries should learn to spell correctly through messages. There is a difference in accidentaly mistaking the spelling of the word and doing it on purpose(God knows which one).

It doesn't matter if the word's spelt properly or not for a dyslexic person, it will still come out wrong 9/10.

Think that was a bit harsh, dyslexia is a condition and you can't really compare it with text speak.

text speak and mis-spelling are two different things

Yeah, I'm the same. I find it so difficult to read that I usually just give up.
Punctuation doesn't bother me so much. The Other Thing I Find Difficult To Read Is Capitals Where There Shouldn't Be :dohh:

The Capitals are a tuffy... I know on this forum, if someone decides to type the entire message IN ALL CAPS, it takes the entire message and Makes It Do This... ;)

:rofl: Atleast I think it still does that....

And I say LOL all the time without thinking and when Im trying to type a professional work email... I keep typing.... rofl Like Im on MSN to make a
