LO picks the most inconvinient moments to make poopie! We were sitting with our mortgage advisor when he let a few rip (he then smiled as if proud of himself). Anyways, I can't figure out if we should switch diapers because it seems like he'll have blowouts with every poop but is fine with pee.

LO is probably about 21 lbs, wearing size 3 Pampers Cruisers. Could he just be pooping huge amounts at one time?

Can you think of anything else I could try?

Our LO is 21lbs and in the size 3 cruisers as well and his last two poops have leaked/exploded but I think its because he only poops every few days and they're just too big for the diaper lol. We do use size 4 at night and they fit too so maybe try going up a size?

When he was littler it always exploded if he was sitting at a funny angle, like in his car seat...

And I agree with the pooping at the worst times... It never happens when we're bumming around home in our jammies :dohh:

maybe you already do this, but when you open up the diaper stretch the inside "seams" out ...still happens, but doesn't seem quite as explosive!

I'm in England so I don't know if the sizing is different but we went into.size 4 at about 18lb bcos size3 used to leak every time she pooped. Now maybe 1 in 5 leak. Also try to change immediately, as I find if my lo lies or sits in it just for a few minutes it can leak up the back! Oh and once your lo starts eating a good amount of solids, poop will become more solid so less leaks so you have that to look forward to lol! Unfortunately my lo is still struggling with solids so poop hasn't changed much yet!

My LO leaks every poo no matter what diaper I have on her... She just 'saves up' then explodes.. lol.

I've read cloth nappies, terries and prefolds in particular, don't leak explosive poos. Hoping it is true as i have invested in prefolds for my next :)

I don't know if you've considered EC but I managed to teach my little girl to poo into adult toilet while sitting on kiddie toilet seat (I hold her up of course) or I'll hold her over adult toilet if not at home. We haven't had pooed in diapers in over a month now with rare exceptions (i think I missed her cues 2 times) :)

Cloth nappies work for me!! I have a second hand set of tots botts i think they are and not a single leak in them :D I have temp stopped using them so he could get the hang of rolling over tho but luckily he has gone a bit more solid anyway, when using disposable nappies before, every one leaked :/ :flower:

i'm glad it's not just us! we have a leak pretty much every day, sometimes twice. though it's usually when she's sat in her vibratey chair, think she saves them up til she's sitting in that and then lets rip like a poo-bomb. doh! maybe it's the angle she's at cos sometimes they're not big poos...

she's around 14lb and in size 3s, which go up to 20lb...and the size 4s start at 15lb i think, so not quite ready to move up a size.

sometimes, i know that a nappy will be unreliable as i've had to readjust several times when putting it on her...she has a habit of rolling or sticking her legs out dead straight now when i'm trying to change her. i can see how much trouble we'll have when she can stand!!

Yep, cloth is best for poo containment. We had endless leaks while LO was tiny and too small for his cloth nappies. As soon as we swapped to cloth full time, the leaks stopped.

Use the next size up  the weight guides are just that, guides :) babies like adults have different body shapes. My son is 22lbs and fits easily into size 4s which go up to 40lbs but they didn't work for him and he kept leaking. He's in size 4+s now which go up to about 44lbs I think and no problems whatsoever.
