J has 4 milk feeds a day...We are also BLW and im worrying about his routine.
We dont do snacks yet but we do sit him with us at every meal so he can take part and try things.

This is a typical day for us so far...

7am milk feed then breakfast

at 11.30/12pm we do lunch first then his milk feed

he has a feed around 4pm then dinner with us at around 5.30pm

then its bedtime feed between 7.30/8pm.

Does this sound right?

Hey there..
Your routine sounds good.. but just wanted to mention that your LO's nutrition still needs to be coming almost 100% from milk feeds. So I would offer either a full or half a milk feed before BLW and then the rest after.
Here is an example of the feeding portion of my day:

Wake up usually half 6 or seven am: full BF, empty both breasts
then BLW breakfast

11 am: Empty one breast, then BLW lunch, then empty other breast

2 or 2:30pm: Full BF, empty both breasts

5 or 6pm: Empty one breast, BLW dinner, empty other breast

10 or 11pm: Empty both breasts

Sometimes I have still had to feed from one breast around 4 or 5 am as he wakes up hungry if he hasn't had a good feed at the 10 - 11pm feed or hasn't fed well during the day either with BLW meals or BF.

Every baby is different though, but personally I think only 4 milk feeds a day is not going to be providing enough nutrition at your LO's age.
BUT, if your LO is feeding well, sleeping a lot of the night and isn't loosing weight, then it might be enough. My LO gets very cranky when he is hungry :haha: none of us would get any sleep.. :flower:

Thanks, ill be giving him his feed before food at lunchtime:thumbup:

He is FF and takes 9oz at each feed, he wont take more than that. He did have a feed at 10pm as a dreamfeed but he stopped taking any a month or so ago.

Were getting him weighed tomorrow and were keeping an eye on his weight as i know he isnt having a great deal of milk:flower:

We've only been BLW the last week or so (and not properly really) but as Canada bear said, I'd def offer boob/milk before solids for now :)
We generally do the following:

8am ish - morning feed
Not doing BLW breakfast yet

11am - boob feed
12.30pm ish - BLW lunch (not all the time)

2pm - boob feed
4.30pm ish - boob feed
6.30pm - boob feed then BLW dinner

7.30pm - bedtime
At the moment, waking anything between 1-3 times for feeds overnight...

He turns 6mths on Saturday after which we are going to offer solid food at least once a day, although he's not really getting the hang of it yet.

HTH :)
