So my body has been gearing up since April. Last Tuesday in the evening I had a lot of cramping and stuff so thought AF was on her way. Since then I've had tonnes of pg symtpoms (tiredness, frequent urination, nausea, spot breakouts, some pain feeding, lots of moodswings) but put it down to a shift in hormones & with lots of wet feelings & lotiony CM I was running to the loo tampon in hand many times a day. It all calmed down so I figured it was just things kicking back in again.

Then yesterday at 11am I went to the loo and when I wiped there was a glob of almost yellowy CM. I wiped again and there was dark blood. It shocked me a bit because all my AF symptoms had gone (apart from the moodswings). My AFs before were always preceded by a LOT of cramping, were there when I woke up, and were very very heavy so this was a bit weird. I had nothing on me for the first time in weeks so just had to wait until I could get to a shop. When I went to the loo armed with tampons, there was a little bit of dark red blood on my underwear but nothing like I expected. When I took my tampon out last night (yes, naughty me, I forgot... I'm out of practice!!) there was some dark red & some light red blood but not much at all. I wore a pad overnight and this morning, nothing, not even when I wiped. I was tired so slept in til 11am and when I got up there was some dark red blood when I wiped. It's now 3.30pm and sometimes I have dark blood when I wipe, sometimes I don't. Still no cramps or anything.

Is this normal? Everyone warned me to expect heavy nasty painful AF with the first one back but is this a set rule? I have toyed with the idea that this is IB and the cramping last week was OV but I think it's more wishful thinking than anything as I think it's a bit too much blood for IB (despite read on lots and lots of forums - thanks to google, that it CAN be like a tiny light period).

Just wondering what everyone else's experiences of their first AF was like and if this is 'normal' iykwim?

My first period was so light. And I didn't cramp at all. I used to get horrible cramps and since having Emma, I don't get cramps anymore with periods. My second period had some clots but nothing big and it was still a really light period. I kept waiting for the heaviness but it never came..

Thanks hun! I did some more googling (I know, I know) and it seems like some people get a light 'warning' period before they have ovulation and a proper period.

My first af was light for me but still filled a pad every couple of hours:wacko: Pain was also less, and I did'nt ovulate before it so I guess was a warning period!

Good luck hun:flower:

my first period was heavy! usually im light and over in 4 days, where as this was really heavy for 4 days and slowed and finished after a week! however i had no cramping at all which i usually do have!

My first AF after DS1 came with NO WARNING whatsoever. I was shocked when I saw blood. Actually got scared for a minute until I realized what it was! LOL. Before baby I had all the "usual" symptoms, cramps, etc... but after baby I had nothing. It took a LONG time before I started having ANY symptoms at all before a period... but I never really got cramps anymore... and if/when I did they were super mild.

This time around I have had 2 periods, and no cramping with either.

It all sounds pretty normal to me honestly.

I think having a baby makes having a period seem like nothing to your body after all the trauma the baby puts on it! LOL.

Well, not sure what it was, it was the spotting I mentioned on Thursday & tiny bit of spotting on Friday when I wiped at around 11am, think I put that, but nothing since. Peculiar but guess everythings just setting off again.
