I really like it! As people have said, once he's here, people will just think of him as whatever name you give him. If you like it, I say go for it!

I think of the ghost too, but I used to LOVE Casper the friendly ghost so.....
Also, the Italian version of Gasperi (pronounced Gus-pe-ri) is very popular here and of course there is no such association made.

i love it but casper cain would sound stupid for us.. it reminds me of the ghost but so what once he is hear im sure he will suit it xx
