Well Carter is 1 week old today and eats so much i worked my way up hes now at 3 oz but when hes done hes still freaking out rooting around trying to breastfeed on me and OH (funny but not a good sign of fullness) He took about 6 oz last night i gave him 3 and he was still fussing like mad after being burped held and even given a pacifier nothing worked until i gave him another oz and another and another 6 oz seems a little crazy for a week old. He was overdue by a week and was 8 lbs 3 oz at birth if that helps. He is now around 7lbs 15oz any help would be great thanx girls

Babies have a growth spurt at about 1 week old.....this is probably what he's going through at the moment. Best to be flexible and feed him as and when he needs (if you have a routine, bend it a little) or just up his regular feed by an oz or two so you're not up and down like a yo-yo.......Earl is already showing little signs of this too at 5 days!

same as above, it's probably a growth spurt and is best to feed him as he wants. it should settle down after a few days

Saw my doctor today Carter has gained 2 lbs in two weeks the doctor tried to tell me even if he wants to eat every hour and a half to wait for 3 hours at least before feeding him. I think its rediculous if my baby is hungry i have to make him wait another hour and a half. I dont plan on following these rules

I wouldn't want to wait either. Brady did this as well and went up to 6 oz, he's now gone back down to about 4 oz every 3 hours during the day and sometimes 5 oz every 4 hours during the night.

I think it's better to take your cue from him, he will throw up what he doesnt need anyway.

Exactly babys know when there done he doesnt throw up he just stops.

i fed my son on demand, all doctors tell you to feed on a schedule but i'm sure THEY don't force themselves to wait to eat if their hungry so they shouldn't tell us to force our wee little babies to wait either.

If he wants 6 oz give it to him, if he wants to eat every 2 hours, let him....he's way too young to have "food issues" he's just letting you know what his body needs.

I had to up Finley's feeds to 40z after about 5 days x He's almost 2 weeks old now & sometimes he finishes all of his bottle sometimes he leaves a little x sometimes he goes 4 hours sometimes he goes 2 and a half x
