My friend who's sister is a doctor (just finished uni) said you might not conceive til 1 yr after Implanon is removed.

WTF?

My doctor spacifically told me that my body would go back to normal straigt after removal, but might take a little while to adjust. She assured me I could conceive straight after removal though....now I hear it might be a yr.

Anyone else heard this?

I heard that it could be upto a year, but when I had mine out the doc said that wasn't the case and my fertility would return immediately. I hot my first pos opk within 3 weeks of it coming out (april 2010) and regular af ever since.

Does a regular AF mean that things are normal then? My AF seems quite regular (27 first cycle and 27 days second cycle). I've only been off for about two months though. I'm not doing OPK's as I would probably go insane (I'm a little overwhelmed with TTC as it is).

Thanks for the reassurance though. I felt like my friend had dropped an anvil on me when she said that. I knew the first month wouldn't be The Month, but I'm staying positive and hoping this month is The Month....

I had my implanon taken out at the end of November, and as told by my nurse that it is possible to conieve before having your first period after removal, but it all depends on the individual person,My period returned exactly a month later after removal, and I've had another normal period since. I think it just depends on the person, My OH and I are TTC at the moment, so I'll keep you updated on how we are doing ;)

I had my implanon taken out 1 year ago and have been ttc ever since. Nothing yet. Periods are regular but I haven't charted or anything. I would have had it out long before I did, if I had realised it was going to be this long.

I had my implant taken out 2 years ago febuary...and it done nothing but cause me havoc when it was there and nothing but havoc now its gone .
Doctors will say its pretty out of your systems ..yeah it may be out your blood stream but you got to remember your body is really confused and has to get its self back to normal hormones ect. Every ones different to how long it takes. My auntie fell pregnant strait away baby is all healthy :)
Also on a rear case if someone is to conceive strait after the implanon removal the hormone can still be in the bloodstream and result in deformity and mc..they dont tell you this but i have done alot of research into it being i havent been able to conceive 2 years .And doctors are not supposed to give ladies with PCOS the implant x

My friend had her implanon out and was pregnant the following month x

I had my implant out in Nov and have had regular periods since, started charting and doing opks but am yet to see a positive opk :( but I have a friend on here that had implant removed in dec and got her bfp this week. So shows everyone is different.

i was told that they wouldnt test until i hadnt conceived for a year but i fell pregnant the second cycle after having it out

My friend had hers removed at the end of september and she is now 13 weeks pregnant. Everybody is different I guess.

When I had my first implant put in I was told that as the levels of hormone are released gradually my fertility would return to 'normal' very quickly after removal. What actually happened when I had mine removed in Aug 08 was that I didn't have an AF for about 9 weeks and I'm still trying to get pregnant 29 months later - never had so much as a sniff of a BFP.

I estimate that it took about 6-8 months for my cycles to properly settle down and I certainly don't hold the implant responsible for my LTTTC status. I am annoyed however that nobody told me how long it could take for the hormones to leave my system. They were just at pains to warn me I could get pregnant right away. It would have been helpful to have had some sort of warning because you assume you won't have trouble conceiving.

Anyway, good luck!

Thanks everyone.

That makes me feel much better. I had my implant taken out in Nov. Waited a month to TTC (I had the rubella shot). My AF seems normal, so hopefully it'll happen for us soon.

I had looked into the implant info before deciding to get it in, but was never told that it might cause problems....not sure what BC I'll use when I'm ready again?

Took my friend 5 months to get her period back after it and then a year to get pregnant, she is now due in 6 weeks!
