I've been trying in vain to get my 12mth old to drink water the past couple of mths.
We've tried a variety of cups and beakers but he just won't have it.

He will only drink milk, now full fat cows milk from a bottle twice a day morning and night (2x 180ml).

One theory is that maybe he just isn't thirsty, as he has a lot of fruit, fruit pots and yogurts which contain a fair bit of water

Does anyone have any advice on how to get him drinking water, and also how much milk does your toddler drink?

I'll be watching this too as I'm in the same situation. She will occasionally take a sip or two of water but that's it. I have tried so many different types of cups now. And also tried putting milk in her cup which she just refuses after her first sip.

Will be stalking, in exactly the same situation! He just refuses to drink water/dilated juice and shakes his head everytime I offer it or will only have a sip here and there.
Been trying different cups too!

Have you tried giving it to him in the bath? I found a few days of doing that was really helpful to get her to practice using it as it was just another bath toy. Also, just leaving it on her tray rather than offering it to her was key as well. I tried for months to help her drink from it. Turns out she didn't want help! Once I started to just leave it for her to drink when she wanted, she took it and drank on her own just fine at every meal.

Otherwise, I wouldn't worry too much. If you give him plenty of opportunities to get used to it, it'll eventually click. My daughter still doesn't drink much water, just sips. But she's well-hydrated and has plenty of wet nappies. She still has 3 bottles a day (roughly 120-150 ml each) and like your LO, lots of fruit and yogurt at meals.

All of a sudden yesterday he decided he wanted to drink water out of his avent beaker after tea and did at nursery in the day too, it's like he knew we were all getting worried about it. Didn't do anything different, so we'll see if it continues today!
