13 weeks pregnant, 13 hour threatened abortion

I'm sorry you've had to endure such horrible neglect. The lack of tact is disgusting! X

Still no update!! I decided after 3 hours of waiting for a phone call, we went straight up to the hospital to get results. They told me it would be a few days. This morning I am bleeding more than yesterday, not nearly as much as Thursday, and am cramping. I still cannot believe I cant see a doctor until Monday.

My god! Don't think I've been this angry in a long time before reading your first post! I am so sorry you've had to go through all that stress...I cannot believe they wouldn't see you...its actually disgusting! On top of that you're rh- ...Im a ftm aswell... and when I was 24weeks I had a spot of bleeding...not even enough to say it was like a period...it was like the beginning or ending of a period... but because im also rh- they got me to go into the hospital right away and I was seen within the hour...luckily nothing baby related but they still told me anything like bleeds I have to go straight in...being rh- idve thought they would have seen you right away! I hope it all gets sorted for you hunni and that everything gets figured out I know its awful being left in the dark! Just so thankful that you and baby are okay! Can't tell you how relieved I was when I got to the part about the HB on the US! hopefully you'll have answers soon! Keep us posted and good luck sweetie! Xxxx <3

I didn't see you were rh-. As the pp said this is neglectful of them to not act promptly, have you had the anti-d /rhogam shot?

I received my Rhogam shot after my trip to the last hospital, yes.

So after cramping and bleeding continued to get worse this morning, my husband and I went to the ER of the hospital that has my specimen in their lab. After having MUCH better treatment, they have confirmed that I had a very weird and rare partial molar pregnancy.

"Partial molar pregnancy. An egg is fertilized by two sperm. The placenta becomes the molar growth. Any fetal tissue that forms is likely to have severe defects. Sometimes a pregnancy that seems to be twins is found to be one fetus and one molar pregnancy. But this is very rare"

My HCG levels have dropped and am considered a threatened miscarriage right now. The doctor couldn't tell if my cervix was closed due to so much bleeding. I am on bed rest and ordered to drink lots of fluids and to relax. I do however, have a heartbeat and still have a viable pregnancy. Because it is the weekend they did not have an US tech on the floor of the hospital, so I still have to wait until Monday for a proper US and to see my doctor.

I have had 3 US and NONE of which confirmed a second fetus. The ER doctor and nurse believe it might be because I haven't had one done by a certified sonographer, but only by my doctor. I guess I haven't had a real scan yet either. I have seen this doctor 4 times. I am pretty pissed at him right now. So, that the news. My HCG levels have dropped drastically from Thursday, and are looking a little low for the baby I am still carrying. So far, my babe has a heartbeat so that's all I can hope for. Thanks ladies for all the support. But, I am glad to share my experience as I hope this helps someone in the future.

Is it possible from what you know/timing that you could have gotten pregnant 2 times and current baby could be not as far along?

If your bleeding I imagine cervix has to be open somewhat to allow it out. There is a cool site https://www.beautifulcervix.com/ That follows women of different ages/categories.

I wonder if you were pregnant with twins and lost one? Honestly, it could be a number of things. The fact you heard a heartbeat after all of this is a wonderful thing. You have a miracle inside of you that is a fighter. I'm sorry for all the shit the doctors/hospitals have put you through. I really can't stand how unsympathetic they can be. Good luck and please update us to let us know what is going on. Your story is very interesting. I pray all is well with your baby.

For now, please just rest. Leave your laptop/computer/phone down and stop googling for answers. It will only make you worry more. I know it's so hard to do that when you're curious and want to know what the hell is going on. Just relax and have faith for Monday.

With my last miscarriage the ER said all was fine cervix was closed although I was literally gushing blood, so the cervix can be closed and still bleeding. Otherwise no woman who bleeds in pregnancy would carry to term and the reality is1 in 5 women will have a bleed in pregnancy with a healthy bub

Maybe I'm putting my foot in my mouth but does anyone know if and when HCG starts to drop normally? I thought I remember hearing about this earlier in pregnancy.. Like once you hit a certain HCG, it starts lowering? I dunno... I hope everything is well... Praying for you, waiting for an update..

Edit: And that is why they tell you to stop taking pregnancy tests after a certain point, because the positive line will get fainter due to the dropping of HCG?

if she passed her baby there wouldn't have been a heartbeat regardless of HCG Level

I think that is what you were asking?

No she was asking what week hcg drops- which is around week 12, no one mentioned her passing her baby! hcg is only there to maintain a pregnancy until the placenta takes over then it starts to drop

This could be a possibility of why she saw her hcg dropping, I think... Thank you for clarifying hopefulfor1st!

Thank goodness you got some possible answers! Lets just hope they can shine some more light on Monday! Hopefully everything is okay now after all this! Get some rest and I agree googling does make you worry more so try to avoid if possible...fx for you hunni that all is well now xxxx

Wow! I can't believe they just didn't bother helping you.
When I was pregnant with my first, I had a bleed, not this bad and after I was waiting 3 hours I went back up and was told "if it's a mc we can't help u anyway" I flipped! This isn't the way u handle a situation that could be so traumatic for the parents.
Luckily all was well.
But what's happened to you, happened to my mum while pregnant with me quite afew times. It happened so bad one time that they said she probably did mc, and I must have been a twin. The same also happened to my big sister during my mums pregnancy
It was so weird growing up I always would talk about being a twin, not realising I was freaking my mum out haha

Like others have said, lots of rest, fluids, make sure your eating little and often, iron enriched foods will help with the blood loss.
I hope the bleeding stops for u soon and the terrible lack of medical care is looked into

I think this is called the hook effect? It may be that you passed a twin it would explain drastically lower HCG.

The cervix can be closed and let things out, it's not watertight. I have passed some pretty big clots and had 4 internal exams all of which have shown a tightly closed cervix.

It's good they found a heartbeart, take care.
