Hi Ladies. I joined a few weeks ago but have been unable to get on due to illness.

Just wondering if any of you ladies have experiences hyperemesis and not just normal pregnancy sickness?

I have been hospitalised twice and am still not doing great. I can barely eat on days where Im not vomitting and just feel like I'll never eat a meal again.

I have read everything from it'll probably be here for 20 weeks, coming back in the 3rd trimester with another set of hormones to, I could have it until the birth....

I have been off work for 2 months now and am only getting Statutory sick pay which is abissmal. The earliest I can take my maternity leave is 15th December, but Im wondering how on earth im going to get that far and I dont think we can afford to stay on SSP for another 3 months.

When did you feel able to get back to normal ladies who have suffered this horrendous illness?

Hi, i know how you feel, i have suffered with this since 5 weeks, and been hospitalised a few times in first tri, it has got better since 16 weeks though and i'm now not being sick every day, but the nausea is the main problem for me. I have been off work since i was 5 weeks pregnant and it is difficult to survive on SSP. I find that eating as soon as i wake up and every couple of hours really helps as well as getting enough sleep. If i am tired the sickness is alot worse. Have you been prescribed any anti sickness tablets? I hope you feel better soon.

Hi Ive had H.G with all of my pregnancies- am now 24 weeks and after multiple trips to the hospital, a PICC line in me for a few months, two months of prednisone and 5 months of Zofran (still on it) I'm doing a little better. I am never hungry and am constantly nauseous but have stopped about 95% of the vomiting. Hang in there- with my son, I did have it until he came out and then literally was STARVING and felt perfectly fine. It's unfortunate that we have to deal with this when so many people sail through pregnancy feeling great, but I always like to think that things could be worse and at least we are fortunate enough to be able to get pregnant. Good luck to you and feel free to PM me if you need to vent :)

Go into the 1st Tri section. I've made several posts about my experiences as well as there's a Hyperemesis support thread. Just do a search.

Oh dear, sorry you've had such a rough time so far backyard baby!! I had morning sickness at 2 weeks pregnant (I didn't know I was pg then!) and it just got worse and worse until I was hospitalised. Since then I've been in and out of hospital a few times. Even though there have been harder times, I think the first tri and beginning of second tri were worst for me because I felt like there was no end in sight! Now I'm counting down the weeks until not only will I have my baby, but also have my body back! I can't wait to feel a bit normal again!! Also, knowing I'm not the only one and that the longest it can last is till the baby is born has helped. It WILL come to an end eventually!

Regarding SSP... it's really tough. Money is probably my biggest anxiety now as I've not been able to work since I fell pregnant! But I found I saved money on food and going out because I've been so ill! Lol. And also I've made use of freecycle and ebay bargains! We have been so so lucky in everything we've gotten together for nearly nothing!

Being pregnant has been one of the hardest experiences of my life and I've been through a fair few things. But it's made me feel alone and frightened, frustrated, useless and extremely hopeless at times. Talking to other people who've been through the same thing has really helped me. And I know I've already said it, but remembering that it WILL COME TO AN END!

It would be nice if there was a little more awareness about HG as well I think. I knew nothing about HG before I was pregnant! A lot of people assume that I just have morning sickness that has lasted a little longer than usual - which can be really offending. It gets tiring explaining to people over and over again why you can't go to their house, go shopping - why you haven't hoovered for a month! :)

Sorry I went on a little rant myself there. But I guess I just wanted to say that you're not alone!! And try not to let it depress you, because it will be over! :) Hope you feel better soon backyard baby!! :hugs:
