Hi ladies! I'm hoping this is normal. I'm feeling some tightness across and inside my belly today. Is this just normal stretching? It feels like someone trying to stretch out a balloon.

Does your tummy go hard? Could be Brixton hicks maybe? I'm not sure.

I get this for whole days at a time. It feels like my poor tummy is stretched out to the max then the next day it's fine again. I presume it's just the muscles fighting back a bit as my uterus moves then out. I have pretty good tummy muscles as I used to do a lot of swimming so it's taken a while for my bump to pop! Once I've had a stretchy day it's fine again for a week or two.

Stretchy days are aweful, I had one day that I couldn't stand straight about a week ago, no tightened uterus, just muscles pulling. Take lots of rests so it doesn't get too painful.

It does go hard, but isn't 14 weeks waaaaaaaaay too soon for Braxton Hicks? I was really concerned about that actually. Because it wasn't the same tightness all day, but would tighten when I'd do different things like eat, or even after sitting for a while, or standing.

My midwife said that it's probably too early for it to be Braxton Hicks but thinks that it might be because of a urine infection. Come to think of it, my urine did look pretty cloudy the other day, but I don't have any other UTI symptoms? Hm. I hope not because I'm allergic to almost every antibiotic and there's like one that I can tolerate pretty well but I'm not sure if it's good at handling UTI's or is safe for pregnancy. Wish me luck!

I had had this for several weeks now and apparently its normal. I cant really relate it to anything b/c somedays I do light activity and have some and some days I do more running around and have none. but its pretty normal. if any pain then call the ob/MW.

I hope so! Now I'm all freaked out about an infection lol... I'm analyzing every sensation and just staying in bed and trying to drink tons of water lol :haha:

BH isn't actually that uncommon in the early 2nd trimester. It's more common in 2nd+ pregnancies but not unheard of for 1st. Your uterus will contract throughout pregnancy as it grows and stretches and other things can stimulate it such as sex so I don't think you have to be worried but if you are thinking UTI, I would speak to your OB.

I gotcha :) Well funny enough speaking to my midwife was what put the idea of UTI in my head! Lol, I called her to ask about this and she said it might be that, so they're checking me for a UTI tomorrow. This midwife seems a bit daffy sometimes, like she originally booked my 12 week scan for when I was 11 weeks but then when the radiology department said they wouldn't take me until 12 weeks she changed her original opinion (which was that 11 weeks was fine for an NT scan) and said, "Oh, definitely, 12 weeks. I didn't know you weren't 12 weeks." (Yes she did lol). So maybe she just isn't aware that BH can happen early in 2nd tri like you say? I hope everything's okay when I go to get checked out tomorrow. I have been very stressed out and moving around, cleaning, etc., so I could have done tons to stimulate the uterus... plus sometimes I have orgasms in my sleep (no lie! Lol) So maybe that is contributing as well.

I don't get the normal signs of UTI when I'm pregnant just cloudy urine and a dull pressure in my bladder.
Hopefully it's not and its just some normal stretching/pulling. I've got friends that have had BH really early on, I didn't get any till 35ish weeks with my 2nd didn't get them at all with my 1st. X

Yeah, I have that, cloudy urine and dull pressure in bladder. Someone mentioned previously that if you have more than one pregnancy, you can feel Braxton Hicks earlier in your second trimester. Does that apply to if you've been pregnant before and miscarried? If so, this IS my second pregnancy, so that might make sense why I'd feel Braxton Hicks earlier???

I woke up with this same feeling this moring. Only way I know how to describe it to DH is my stomach feels tight. It doesnt hurt like the initial stretching pains I had, just uncomfortable and "tight". Glad to see others are saying the same!! Nice to see you again Skywalker!! :-)
