Question…when did your LO's start to really eat?? Like meats? My little girl, mostly enjoys eating fruits and some veggies, eggs occasionally. It's discouraging for me when I try to cook all of these different foods for her and she won't eat them. It pretty much all ends up on the floor :growl mad:.. She's mostly on BM still and I just stopped working so she's nursing in the am when she first wakes, before and after her 2 naps of the day and then again before bedtime. I was thinking maybe I should limit the Breastfeedings throughout the day, but wouldn't that be harsh? My question is…do babies wean themselves? Or, do we set them up to wean themselves?? Yesterday she wanted to finish the whole box of blueberries in one sitting, because thats what she likes. I wish she would feel this passionate about eating her lunches and dinners lol. I'll be home with her for the next two months, then I'm back off to work. I was hoping I wouldn't have to pump at work anymore by then because she will have started eating more. Any suggestions..PLEASE?!!!

Maybe someone else can help with the weaning off the breast question, but I think what you're describing is pretty normal in that many toddlers still don't eat a whole lot of meat. Will she eat any other things besides fruit and veg or egg? Like crackers or jacket potatoes or cheese or pasta? My daughter is 2.5 and still doesn't eat a lot of meat, unless it's mince hidden in pasta or occasionally a chicken leg, but we also don't eat meat every day, so it's something she's only exposed to a few times a week. Fruit and veg are definitely her favourite things too (which is good! So many parents stress because they can't get their kids to eat enough of them!). But she will eat starchy foods, so I try as much as possible to pair those with fat and protein, so crackers with cheese, jacket potato with baked beans, pasta with cheese and butter, or sandwiches with cheese, cream cheese or hummus, or ham and cheese/turkey and cheese. If you can get her to like these sorts of things, then you can sneak in fats and protein which will keep her fuller longer even if she's still eating a lot of fruit and veg. But really just keep offering all the normal things you eat, letting her watch you cook and "help" when she can, and eating with her, and you'll see a lot of change as she gets older.

awesome advice :hugs:..I sure hope so, thank you so very much!

My kids are vegetarian so they don't eat meat...does your LO like things like yogurt, avocado, beans, nut butters? All those things can make up for protein (except avocado) that you find in meat, and they all have a good amount of fat!
