Hi I'm currently 16 weeks pregnant with my 2nd child. With my son I did get hip pain but wasn't until late on and he had his head right in my hip area, the pain continued after I gave birth for a few months when walking etc and or more recently if I did anything to strenuous and was told I had a weakness in that hip and given pain killers for when it was bad.

Anyway from pretty much finding out I was pregnant this time round I have had some niggling pain off and on. But for the last few weeks it's steadily getting worse especially when I try to sleep at night, if I sit or walk to long, I can't really win, I have a midwife appt tomorow so will talk to her about it, just wondering if anyone has any tips on how to reduce the pain in the meantime

Mumberry was just on Good Morning Utah, and they were talking about their great pants and shirts designed just for pregnant women, with a built-in belly-support band that helps take the weight off of your back and hips. You can get them from their website :)

Hi afraid I dont have anything possitive to add but this happened to me at exactly the same time, I ended up on crutches unable to walk much at all or even lift my own legs. found out it was due to a twisted pelvis on the right side and split abdominal muscles. it continued through my whole pregnancy. Little man is 15months old now and I am still in pain seeing physio after physio who all say I have ligament damage now.

My only advice is bring it up at every appointment! our midwife was too quick to fob us off with the diagnosis of SPD. I ended up with trigger finger too which is when your fingers seize up and your hands are stuck in a fist which she fobbed us off again putting it down to carpal tunnel. after the birth i ended up having to have steroid injection in my hands to fix it.

Nothing eased my hip pain, Just try to keep moving dont sit in the same position for long periods but at the same time dont over do it.
They put me on codeine towards the last trimester to help, but when little guy was born he had withdrawal from it and had alot of side affects that they promised me would not happen i was so angry.

I was told at my last appointment that if it caused an issue they would refer me for physio, I have known of a couple people ending up on crutches which I am a bit concerned about as I work in a nursery with young children so it would be very impractical

I recommend looking on the pelvic partnership website, they're a great charity with lots of good advice on hip pain, the main thing they recommend is physical manipulation of the hip joints to re-align them.

I worked in a nursery also, as soon as I was given crutches I wasn't allowed to be around the children and ended up being signed off sick until my maternity started. Physio gave me a large tuber grin type support to wear around my middle. She also did the pelvis manipulation which worked for an hour or so then it would go back

I was just about to come in to post about this. My hips are killing me and mostly at night. It's so uncomfortable

I've seen the midwife today and she's referring me for physio and should hear within a couple weeks so hopefully get sorted or at least some exercises to help. A bath generally helps but only eases the pain for an hour or so

I cant find anything that helps my pain, i have pain in my very lower back at the top of my bottom and sitting on my sofa hurts, walking too much hurts and when i lie in bed its no better! I had none of this in my first pregnancy.
