18 months wrap size?

Im getting my 18 month old nephew a WN wrap with his name on it with a matching T-shirt. Hes entirely average in height and build. I think Im better getting a Large as an XL will be more like 3yr old no?
I want it to fit him at least all this summer but I dont want it to be too big so he cant show it off in the nice weather.

we're 18 months and in large, i think xl might be while off but at same time she's not massive about 26/27lbs
