hi girls...well after a very long & emotional 16mths of ttc this was my 1st round of clomid, 50mg days 2-6...started the cycle so positively, especially when i had the follicule tracking & all was good.....af was due this wed coming & like every mth my spotting has started bang on time, 3 days b4 :( I just dont see how we can go on like this anymore, i just feel like crying but trying to hold it all in & i dont wanna ruin the weekend. I dont know what else we can do, i was on clomid & epo this cycle, dh has been taking fertile aid 4 men ( has now swapped to wellmans as cheaper!!) we dont go out drinking anymore....i still think the spotting i have & the back ache i get every mth waaayyyy b4 af is due has something to do with me not conceiving...this mth it was 5dpo the backache started....if i got this just b4 af was due i could understand but not even a week after ive ovulated surely this is a sign somethings up????? had all the tests going & progesterone levels seem fine....im sure that the levels are dropping too quickly or something????

dh has been really supportive & said that we should go for iui now.....ive still got another 2 mths of clomid but i dunno if its worth doing?? they said i was ovulating even b4 the clomid....i didnt feel any different while on the clomid so it prob didnt even do anything different to me!! Does anyone think i should take 100mg clomid next mth instead of the 50mg??? & in jan say ive lost that mths clomid & ask 4 that mths prescription?? Im just sooo tired of getting upset like this but i know i dont want to give up, my daughter is nearly 4 & i will try everything to give her a bro or sis

there is an open evening on wed at the fertility center near us which we are going to go to, & have booked a consultation with them on the 14th dec to discuss iui......hopefully we can start in jan, fingers crossed.

xxx

I completly know how you feel, Myself and my other half have had unprotected sex for nearly 4 years now and still nothing, I have had all the tests done and everything came back fine apart from a little endo but doc said it is nothing to worry about and won't stop us from getting pregnant.

So FS started me on 100mg of CLOMID and has given me 6 months worth, I am on my first round at the moment.

I really hope it works for us this time, I am getting to a piont where i can't be around babies i am jelous of my friends who have or are going to have babies, I just cant control my feelings anymore and all people say to you is "you need to relax", how the bloody hell can you relax???? they don't understand. theres my rant over lol just remember that there are lots of women who are going through the same thing as you on this website and its great to talk to people who understand. i wish you all the luck in the world hopefully we will all get our BFP'S intime for x mas xxxxx

I remember that feeling when i was on the first round of clomid. I was so excited and optimistic about the whole thing. As you can see it didn't work for me on the first cycle either (and 2nd and 3rd) and when AF arrived i was just devastated!! Unfortunatley i have to tell you it doesn't get easier every month either. I still get optimistic and excited every month but i think now i have realised that this isn't the miracle drug i thought it was going to be.

Stay strong as it will happen for you!

Hi DancingKaty1, I'm so sorry that you are upset and feel like AF is coming. I've just had my first cycle of clomid too without success. I even had lots of symptoms such as sore boobs and nausea which I'd never had before and then AF arrived as normal. It does feel like a miracle drug and it is devestating when it doesn't work. :hugs:

Have you had tests done to try to work out why you are are spotting and why you get the backache? I don't have spotting but I do get bad lower back / bowel pain up to a week before AF and have just been diagnosed with endometriosis through lap and dye. I have lots other symptoms too like crippling period pains, so it was not a massive surprise but I just wondered if you had been through the various tests to rule things like this out?

There are lots and lots of women that clomid does work for and I hope you can keep positive for your next cycle. I was ovulating fine before too and I thought that the higher 100mg dose was more for women who haven't been ovulating otherwise you run the risk of over-stimulation? I'd be really careful about upping the dose without your doctor approving it.

Before we try IVF I'm thinking of clomid together with IUI but not sure if this is possible so will need to talk to the clinic in 2 weeks' time. Maybe that's something you could consider too?

I don't know whether this has been any help at all, but hopefully you don't feel alone and know that there are other steps to take that might get you your :bfp:. It's such a painful journey but if AF does come, you might be on the first day of the cycle in which you do conceive so don't give up hope. Lots and lots of :hugs:

xx

So sorry to hear this Katy. I don't have any experience of clomid so cant offer advice on the dosage, but I wouldnt up the dose without the FS advising you to.

You still have two more cycles of it to go, so don't give up. And perhaps after finding out more about IUI you might find that option is right for you. Wishing you loads of luck. xx

:hugs: like millie said, its so hard, the first month on clomid I think we put so much faith in that little pill and its heartbreaking when reality kicks you and it has not worked instantly. But dont give up, it does have success stories, I am in the middle of my 3rd cycle and it still has me hoping for a miracle...

Don't give up, it will happen :hugs:

Thank you all sooo much for your replies.....

I would love tests done to see why i am spotting & getting the back ache....but my fs doesnt seem bothered by it at all......i asked her if it was due to levels of progesterone dropping too quickly ( as my doc mentioned it to me) & she said it wouldnt be that....she asked if the nurse said anything about my lining when i had the follicular scanning done this mth & i said no....she said oh just carry on with clomid & see what happens.....i just feel like there is something wrong & im not being listened to properly....last week when the backache started badly i tried to call my fs & ask her why i was getting backache 4/5 dpo ( surely a way of saying implantation is no way possible!!) & once again her secretary was not in office & had an answer phone msg saying she will be bk in office in a weeks time!! hense why i phoned the fertility center around the corner from me.....both me & my dh have agreed if we have to pay 4 treatment now, so be it.....i have found the nhs not very helpful in some respects.....there is just too much waiting around....i started ttc when i just turned 26 & now im nearly 28 & no sign of a BFP & because we have a dd who is 4 i feel like im being pushed to one side & keep being told 'to relax more' and 'it happened then, it will happen again'...i feel like screaming!!!! it only took 6 mths to conceive her.....im now on 16/17 mth of ttc....i never got any spotting or back ache when i was ttc her which i do now....somethings going on inside which is dif from now im sure!!

how do i go about getting tests done for my lining etc??

xx

I think its a really good idea to go to the private clinic near you, even if it is just to discuss with them what they would do if you were to sign up with them. They may have more answers about the tests you can do to check your lining - as you say, having it tested before ovulation is one thing, but making sure it is still there 10 days later is another. I haven't had something like that myself, but I did have a day 21 progesterone test to check it was high enough - did they do this for you?

You are right to listen to your own body - you know if things have changed since you had your dd. I wish I had persisted with my specialists when I had treatment 5 years ago with my ex-husband. I knew there was something wrong with my periods (pain, etc) but because he was completely infertile and on the surface I looked ok, they wouldn't do a lap or any further investigations. Now I've just found out that I have endo and lots of scarring from having it for ages, so I was right.

Trust your instincts and discuss with them with the new clinic - hopefully they may have some suggestions for you. But remember - don't lost hope in the meantime. One more clomid cycle might be all you need.

xx

thanks babychristie...you are so sweet & have cheered me up today :) i know i should try & feel positive about the clomid, hopefully it will work still & i will get my BFP in dec....it will be boxing day!! I had the day3 & 21 bloods done in jan & aug, both were fine....when i phoned my doc last week about them he said the results were fine but maybe speak to my fs about the levels dropping too quickly.....he said there is no question that i am not ov as i am .....ive had a hycosy done & lots of scans, internal & out......if i had endometriosis would it have shown up on these tests?? xx

Hey Dancingkaty1, I know exactly how you feel - clomid 50mg CD2-6 didn't work for me either and like you I was so positive when I started taking the tablets and even has a little worry that it might be twins - I feel really stupid about that now!

Well I'm on CD3 today so second tablet of clomid, I'm no where near as positive as I was last cycle but I do still desperately hope it will result in a BFP this month.

I'm exactly like you I work out in advance when I would find out if it is a BFP and mine is Dec 23rd. Tons of babydust to both of us.

I had the hycosy and various scans and nothing showed up - I think its just the lap to diagnose endo. Unless you have any other major symptoms, I wouldn't worry. It's good that your progesterone is up on day 21, perhaps they could test you a bit later in the cycle too just to be sure?

Good luck with the other clinic anyway - when are you going?

x

I really wouldnt self med the dose. You could hyper stimulate and end up with real problems.

You know that 50mg is working! You saw the follies, so def dont go uping the dose without the advice of the fs.

I know its hard. XX

hya im new but nrly exact same story as u expet im ttc #1... 1st month clomid, af due weds, and also back ache frm cd18...!! But my bf has low sperm count, +dr thinks this y we nt gettin pg...app 30th nov x

Is major back ache from 4/5dpo a sign do you think?? i get very painful tummy cramps too when af has arrived 4 the 1st day too. i would love my rogesterone level to be checked later on in cycle...will mention this when i speak to the other clinic on wed 14th dec....xx

hi baybeehopes....sorry to hear you are going a similar thing to me...it sucks doesnt it!! my dh was told he had low sperm count too....was 17 million but the worse bit was they were very sluggish & not swimming at all!! he started on the fertile aid 4 men & luckily they improved...21 million & good swimmers from his result 3 mths later.....he is now taking wellmans....hoping they do the same thing.

Is the major backpain 'internal' do you think? At the risk of tmi, mine is very low down, kind of anal almost and feels like I need a good poo! It's from about 6/7 dpo and continues on and off until a couple of days after AF  That explains the endo on my bowel anyway. Other endo signs I believe include heavy, clotty period, nausea / headaches during AF, major back and tummy cramps, constipation &/or diarreoa during AF too.

But don't worry too much, if you look at symptoms of anything you can convince yourself you have them! Best to discuss with the doc when you see him.

Have you actually got the witch this month yet or still just feeling like she's on her way?

Mine is very low down too....3 / 4 inches above tail bone?? Yesterday i got ( sorry if tmi its so gross!!) thick very dark brown almost black thick discharge.....when i went to be last night at 10pm went to the loo & wiped & saw red blood...assumed i had come on so put a tampax in & went to bed....woke this morning, took tampon out & there was no blood on it....just LOADS of that almost black stuff again....i know this is gross but wiped with a tissue off the tampon & its really thick gooey stuff....very dark brown....what the hell is it??? what does it mean?? i usually get a tiny tiny tiny amount ( if i put my finger up & scrape a bit out) the few days leading up to af, but there is so much of it this cycle....maybe its the epo or clomid made it more this cycle i do not know??? anyway sorry ive prob really grossed u out & uve prob stopped reading by now lol but i will carry on...i then looked in toilet and saw blood, so wiped & lots of red blood so ive put tampax in....assuming im def on now...do i class today as day 1??? i did some red blood last night but didnt have any during night....meant to be taking clomid day 2-6 & im unsure when to start!! xx

Hi hun,

Sorry to hear that your first go on Clomid wasnt a success, however remember as with any medication it can take a little while to get into your system. The GREAT news is that the clomid is doing its job... you have seen that for yourself on scan pics and CD21 tests. I would DEFINATLEY not up your dose without speaking to a professional, too much clomid can cause allsorts of problems. By the sounds of it you dont need anymore anyway... If you have had red blood count that as CD1 xxxx

Give it a few more goes before you consider any other fertility options hun....

Good luck xxxx :dust:

Well, that's a tricky one. Firstly, with the low pains I think you should mention it to the new doc when you see him privately and see what he says. My specialist said that ANY kind of bad pain before a period is not right, which is why he went straight for the lap. Don't want to worry you, but just saying what I was told.

Secondly, I'm really not sure what's going on with the discharge I'm afraid. My first clomid cycle last month was normal AF from the start, although I do sometimes have that kind of dark stuff its only a tiny amount and usually later I think. I guess see if you have red when you change tampon and then work out in your own mind whether last night was you coming on - although it does sound like it if there was at least some red. I would probably count today as day 2 I think - but if you are in any doubt, best to call your clinic and speak to a nurse I guess?

Sorry anyway hon that it looks like it's not happened for you this month. Let's get you upbeat and positive about this next cycle and a festive BFP.... :hugs:

xxxx

I'm so sorry dancingkaty. :hugs: The clomid isn't working for me either.. :( I think it's good that you are going to that fs on the 14th. Good luck hun!
