Hey

I'm about to begin my 1st IVF cycle in August and would be greatful
if you would kindly share what you did to prepare for IVF.

Congrats to those expecting and all the now mamas 😊

I'm in my tww from my 1st ivf, so I don't know if it was successful or not, but I feel like everything so far has gone very well, with no surprises. Good luck! So far my best advice, but I know not everyone can do is I was very happy to take the time off work and clear my schedule for the medical stuff, but after the transfer and a couple days after I needed to be busy busy to keep my mind off of it. I thought the physically part was bad, I feel like the mental tww is consuming!

Thank you for your advice & lots of luck for your tww I hope you get your :bfp:

Hi, I just kept healthy as I could but didnt over do it, just no drinking and cut out caffeine, I was doing a clinical trial for the effects of vitamins on embryo quality so I had smoothie drinks provided so didn't take any other supplements
Also I had the endometrial scratch which I think contributed to getting pregnant and I had a frozen embryo transfer as overstimulated, not badly but enough for the clinic to want to wait. I was so disappointed and fed up as it would be Xmas and I ended up waiting 4 months for transfer ( also due to my long cycles) but now I see it was for the best so try not to be disheartened if you have a delay, its always for the best and I was told by researchers that frozen transfers are more successful and thats the study they are doing next as possibly looking into everyone freezing embryos for transfer at a later date due to its success which makes sense
Take it 1 day at a time, its exciting good luck!

I don't think there's an awful lot you can do to prepare. I've been through 2 rounds of IVF and all I've done is cut of alcohol, caffeine, and certain types of foods once I had the transfers. I also took Seven Seas Trying for a Baby vitamins. I also found keeping busy helped. Lots of people take time off work for treatment but if I had of done that, I would've driven myself crazy. I literally took days off for egg collection and transfer and worked the rest of the time. Good luck! X

The only advice I can think of that will help is to drink plenty of water & eat healthy while your preparing for IVF and when you start your stem meds, just make sure you do them at the right time every day and after your retrieval, drink LOTS of water (no matter how bloated you feel). This will help prevent OHSS and its also good for the embryo(s) in the TWW when you drink plenty of water. Also, take it as easy as you can after the retrieval throughout your whole TWW. My biggest piece of advice is, again, to drink plenty of water/Gatorade and rest/take it easy. Other than that, there's not a whole lot we can do.
I know how fearful this whole process can be but always remember, it can & does work first time for many. I was a day 3 transfer of one embryo and it stuck! Trust in your doctor & keep your faith.

I wish you a ton of luck! I hope everything goes as smooth as possible for you! Keep us updated! ;)

I just wanted to join in as I'd love to hear all your advice, as I prepare for IVF!

Hi
We had success with our first cycle back in 2009. We had 2 4 cell 2 day embies put back. I had acupuncture straight before and after et, bed rest for 24 hrs then took it easy, no work til test day. No alcohol, caffeine, took pre natals. With next couple of cycles I tried to juggle work in two and all bfn. Did exactly the same with most cycle as first one and got bfp. Coincidence maybe but I am a firm believer in acupuncture and resting.
Good luck.
Xx

Oh I also just remembered, take Folic Acid as well. I met with a meds specialist while preparing for IVF & he strongly recommended extra folic acid, on top of what's already in your prenatal vitamins. He said all folic acid that your body doesn't need will come out in our urine so not to worry about it being too much. Folic Acid helps make healthy eggs and then after the embie(s) sticks, it helps with fetal development in general and helps prevent neural defects. Sorry my mind is foggy today! If I think of anything else I did, ill let you know ;)

Good luck to you as well, LMOH!

Hello ladies! I'm not a success story yet, but I hope two be in a few months! I'm not sure when I will start IVF, we're still trying to decide if I want to do laproscopy first. I wanted to follow this board so I can see all of the great stories and advice. Thanks everyone!!

Hi there, 1st time ICSI success here and quickly approaching our due date!

As for what I did to prepare, I didn't stress. I drank a lot of water (especially after egg collection to decrease risk of ohss). As for cutting out alcohol, I actually had two glasses of red wine the couple of weeks leading up to egg collection. It didn't hurt anything. I also had my daily coffee, and even now have my daily coffee (at over 31 weeks pregnant). If the dr says cut it out though I guess listen to them, but my dr said it was all ok just don't stress.

We had 5 eggs retrieved, and 5 fertilised and all made it to the transfer day doing really well! We had one transferred and four frozen :) good luck!
