My baby is 2 months and 3 days old and slept 10 hours straight last night. Is this ok?? He is EBF. He was born 8lb7oz and now is 14lb12oz. So obviously he's gaining fine. He hardly sleeps during the day. Literally about an hour in the morning and 30 mins in the afternoon. He eats very often during the day also. About a week ago he started sleeping 6 1/2 - 8 hours straight. I was freaked out when he slept 10 hours but i kept checking on him to make sure he was ok. I let him sleep because he sleeps so little during the day and he is gaining weight fine.

Am I doing the right thing by letting him sleep?

Yes, embrace it!!!! He is a good weight to be able to sleep through the night. And since he only sleeps a short amount during the day then he needs his sleep at night. Plus he is eating a lot in the day to make up for what he isnt getting while he is sleeping. My baby started sleeping through the night around 6 weeks!

Great!! Thank you for your response. The pediatrician told me today that I could let him sleep or just wake him up to eat once I get up. I will probably just let him sleep, although I would love a 2 hour nap so I could get some things done around the house! He hates carriers/slings. He is good to amuse himself for about an hour a day with me watching him, and then factor in all the feedings. I just can't get anything done.......oh well, I know it could always be a whole lot worse. Please ignore my ranting because there are a lot of other people on here going through some pretty hard times.

Thanks again!!

I also agree that there is no issue with the night sleeping. You also mentioned that you would consider getting him up in the morning so you can get time for yourself through the day. I also think that there is nothing wrong with this. I don't think that there is any benefit/harm to the baby either way and if there is benefit to you then that's a good thing. You could try it and see how lo reacts.
