I didn't wanted to post first but I don't have with who I should talk about.
So I had my scan today and hours later my doctor called me and left me a message telling me that everything looks fine but there is a little system on the baby's brain called"choroid plexus cyst" he said this alone is no cause to worry.

But I worry now after reading a little more about it...I have next week appointment to discuss the details but if is nothing to worry why did he had to tell me??

Now I am scared to death that my baby will have some brain damage or trisomy....

What are you're thoughts about it?any advice?do you have experience with that?

My brothers SIL's daughter had this at the 20 week scan. It was gone before she delivered her, and she is a healthy smart 18 month old! I've heard that it frequently goes away. Stay positive, although I'm sure it's difficult to not stress.

Hugs

I don't have any advice but here are some comments from people who went through it.. Looks really positive!

Oh no. Sorry to hear that! So hard not to worry! I am sure your doctor will be able to give you more answers next week! :hugs:

I got the same results from my 18 week scan. Both Dr's seem very positive about it and both have told me 99% of the time they go away. I was scared to hun but the past 2 weeks of reading about it I have calmed down a lot. Now my worry is I have to have growth scans every 4-6 weeks cause of the results of my triple screen test. She weighed 8ozs at 18 weeks which is normal so I guess I'll see what happens on the 15th. Try not to worry so much I know its not easy I'm in your shoes. The Dr at the hospital also told me that we can do an amnio or I can do blood tests that is the same as an amnio to determine what's going on. We'll see what happens before I choose to go that far. Just think positive for you beautiful baby :-)

awwww..... I am so sorry to hear this! I am so sorry you have to go through the stress of worrying. I have never been in the same situation - so I can only imagine how horrid a message like this was to receive. I am going to sending you and your family lots of happy thoughts and I hope things fix themselves and fast! Please update us!

If your doctor said its nothing to worry for do your best to listen <3 if it was a major concern they wouldnt lie.

Thanks ladies!

I see online that most of the cases are harmless, if only that cyst is present, which it is the only thing in my case.I just wish I would not know about it.
I believe too that if it were something really bad the doctors will want to see me right away and not wait for a following appointment. But it kind of took my joy away.
I am looking forward for next week, when I see my doctor maybe he will say that is really not a big deal and I will update.

Good luck ladies.

My baby girl has it too and I'm not worried. Everything I've read said that it normally resolves itself, especially if a single marker and it's a soft one at that. My doctor also mentioned that since my NT scan results and blood work came back good then it's likely to be nothing. I personally get cysts from time to time and they just come and go.

I asked what was to be done as follow up and she said I could have another ultrasound. I found out that by 28 weeks the cyst should be resolved so I have my 28 week ultrasound booked for 5/3.

Try not to panic b/c I'm sure everything is fine with your baby. Easier said than done I know but I believe my doctor when she said it was not a huge concern. I guess some doctor's don't even mention it b/c of the low risk and they don't want to worry parents. Have faith that he's fine :hugs:

Sorry hun if doctor says not to worry i wouldnt much..prayers:-)

These are 2 threads I've written in about my experience. My daughter Jordan had choroid plexus cysts and she is healthy. :hugs:

I got the same news on the 3rd but my babies cyst is an arachnoid and my doc is very worried. Ive been reaserching lots about cysts and the one your baby has is very common and usually goes away. Try not to worry. I know how hard it is, im worried sick xxx

Jazzylady-----just wondering if you have an update yet. Hope all is well. You are in my thoughts.

Sheri, sending hugs... What were your results? I am in a similar situation :(

I had a really really quick u/s on the 3rd like the quickest ever. The cysts were still there I go back for my 2nd level 2 on Monday the 15th. I'm so scared yet so excited. Its so confusing :-). I can feel her so much more now so when I do I'm am relieved at least I know she is on right now during this horrible wait. I will definitely keep you updated on what happens at my u/s on Monday. When do you go back? I hope everything works out for the both of us. At least we have support on here which is amazingly helpful.
