Hi, I wonder if anyone could help me out with this? My eldest loves to watch you tube videos of people playing skylanders, but I have no idea what it's all about! I had a Google to see if you could get it on the wii (the original wii not wii u) and I found this

Argos has the play doh super hero can head vehicles for £4.95. And the rainbow dash play doh set for £6 something. Rainbow dash is oos near me but managed to get the other one for the kids.

Yes you need the portal and game that the set comes with plus it will give you a couple of characters. The problem is that you need more than just a couple of characters to unlock certain levels - you need characters of different elements to unlock mini games within the game if that amkes sense. They will be able to play it with that set though. hope that helps, DS loves skylanders so I know way more than I need to about the game lol x

Thanks for that. Is there a way of knowing in advance which extra characters you might need so I can buy them as extra stocking presents or get the grandparents to buy a few!?

I was dubious too but thought I'd give it a try. I would say they are a little stiffer to click the Lego on but it stays on well. I think to connect the plates together using Lego there would be a slight gap.

We did get a couple of the £1 Blox play sets and they are ok but hubby wasn't impressed so we won't buy anymore of those.

DH says don't worry too much about which ones specifically just get the cheapest ones and get a few - basically when you have played for a bit the character gets tired and you have to put a new character on so having a few to change about is good. You trap the baddies and can then play as them but you should be fine to start with the couple of traps you get in the starter pack.

All the older figures will play on it but the new supercharger characters won't. Game often do second hand figures and 3 for 2 on them so you can often get a bargain especially with the new game out there should be lots of the older figures being swapped in so worth having a look in a game store if you can x
