So I had my 20 week scan on friday and went in all excited to have the most miserable sonographer.

She didnt say a word, mumbled and said lay down. She got on with her measurements. We didnt get yo see the baby just the organs even tho we paid 10pounds for 3pics I got the same one blurred.

The worst part is the baby wasnt in the best position ao she was really struggling to see the heart and she pushed and pushed and pushed on my tummy all around trying to get what she wanted that it was really painful. Two days later and even my trousers hurt pressed on my tummy! So cross.

To make matters worst she didnt as if we wanted to know the sex. I assumed she wpukd have looked and asked at the end but she said thats all done, I asked what the sex was oh I didnt look. So she put the scanner on my tummy and just said cant see... she had run out of time to even try!.

I'm so sorry you had this bad experience. Can you complain to her boss ?

I would phone and complain because there is just no need for that kind of attitude. I'd also tell them that you're still sore. I'm sure it's nothing but it's not right and shows she's been far too rough.

I have a greatnsultant appointment in a week so as going to say to them about it. It feels just like its bruised so im not worried about baby but its shocking. Its ruined the whole 20 week scan and didnt help that she left us worrying about babys heart for 30 mimutes without saying a word just because she couldnt get the right angle. Im sure other sonographers would send me off for a walk to see if baby moves rather than inflicting pain. I just wanted to have a moan about it :-( x thanks girls x

Yeah she should have been more careful. I know when I had my 20 week scan the sonographer wasn't the most gentle at certain times, but nothing that left me sore for days.

I do know however they're not really allowed to tell you anything about what they've seen because they're not doctors. If they told you anything they could get fired.

As for the gender part, they don't have to tell you either, but they should know by now that people want to know. To not even truly attempt to find out was more so inconsiderate than anything else.

Just really make sure to say something about how she hurt you. That's the most unacceptable thing she did in my opinion.

I'm so sorry you had a rubbish experience and your scan. I would complain if I was you although it may get you know where.
At my 13 week scan the Oman was horrible to us, she didn't speak much, said I was scamming the NHS cause I'd already had 2 scans before that one, we paid for 2 pics, she printed 4 gave us 2 the same then chucked the other 2 in the bin. And I went away in pain, I continued to be in pain for a week, I had to go back to th hospital after 5 days to be checked all was ok. My other half made a complaint to a senior cause that's all was available, alls she said is that's strange cause she is usually really nice, perhaps she's having a bad day. When you come for your 20 week scan (which is this wednesday) just tell reception you don't want to see her again. So kinda pointless really.
Hopefully you will have more luck with your complaint. I hope the pain eases off soon :) x

I've just had mine and although the sonographer was lovely she did hurt my lower tummy. She apologised and explained why she was digging so hard though, baby's face was hidden and she needed to see the lips. Mine has been sore for days too but I haven't questioned it because she was professional enough to explain the reason why she had to be so rough. I'm telling you this in case you complain and they come back saying that it's common to feel sore like this. Even if it is, for you, the issue is the attitude and the fact that she's left you in pain without warning you to expect it.

Definitely complain about her - my hospital uses the PALS system for complaints, have a look to see the official channel to take. I've read about ago many women having bad experiences with sonographers, so the more that complain the better.

Such a shame about the gender. Do you think you'll stay team yellow now or pay for a private one?

Appalling to be treated in that manner defiantly complain about her hunny I would! X
