Hey Fellow M2Bs,

I finally had my 20wk scan on Friday, which was amazing - thankfully everything seems to be progressing well with our little Bub...everythings there that should be there! :happydance:

Anyway, we asked our sonographer if he can tell us whether we are going to be a Blue or Pink Team...and we found out that we are BLUE!!! :happydance:

Anyway, we asked the sonographer to write the answer on a piece of paper, which we opened later when we were on our own...and now I'm wondering how certain he was that we're going to have a little boy because I can't make anything out that's clearly 'boy' material (!) in our scan pictures.

I'm just wondering how positive our sonographer was about his findings, especially since finding out that mistakes can happen - even with "boy" scans.

Would you guys mind taking a look at our scan (the one on the right) and tell me what your think - can you see a little willy or could we be having a little girl? I would rather know in advance rather than go out and buy loads of boy things to then find out on the day that we actually have a little girl.

To explain the scan - our Bub's legs are curled up towards his (or her) body and slightly crossed (this is one of the reasons why I'm slightly questioning the certainty because it may have been difficult to be sure). You can see the two legs to the left of the scan with the bottom part of the stomach on the right-hand side.

Please let me know your thoughts...

Thanks Girlies - much appreciated!! :flower:

The sonographer probably didn't look at the side shot to find out gender, they do it up between the legs which obviously you haven't got a print out of. At 20wks they are 97% accurate.

She didn't give you the right angle for a potty shot to show. That is probably cause you didn't want to find out till you opened the paper since it can be very obvious looking at a picture with nothing there, or with a willy :haha:
I'm the kind of person that has to see it for myself to believe it though!

Usually if they tell you boy they are very accurate indeed. Most often (although not always) the mistakes are made when they think it's a girl but in fact they missed the willy. I think you could probably be at least 97% certain, if not a little more. There's no point poring over the picture as that won't tell you anything, but they will have seen the "area" quite clearly when they took the femur length measurement.

At 20 weeks, they normally are correct, especially with a boy since you can't mistake little boy bits, lol! ;)

sorry i cant tell!! congrads anyway and im sure it will work out xx

i agree with the other posters. if you asked him to write it down he may not have given you the potty shot thinking it would spoil the surprise. he saw what he needed to but didn't print that pic for you. Yay for team blue!!!! :happydance: congrats!!

I don't think the sonographer would have put boy if he wasn't sure, i think you can quite happily go and buy boy things without worrying :)

Thanks so much everyone! As always - you are super helpful.

Yay for Team Blue!!! :happydance:

Hey Jenniferttc1 - we are thinking of choosing the same name as you for our little boy!!! We like Hayden (although like your variation on the spelling) or Logan but I think my preference is Hayden - and my OH has said that as I'm the one pushing him out then I can have the final decision.

Right...feel a little more confident about looking and buying boy things!

Thanks again!

I was worried aboit this at my 20 week scan. I didnt see anything to suggest boy and the sonographer was vague. I booked a private scan for two days later and he was indeed all boy :) I would say your sonographer is correct.

Welcome to team blue :) xx
