i have seen on other websites that at 24 weeks the baby is 'viable' does this mean they have to do some thing to help the baby if problems are arising??? :dohh:

I believe so, at 24 weeks they are seen by medical staff that they can live outside the womb with medical intervention. In that case, medical staff have to do everything they can to keep the baby alive.

thats what i thought... but with my first pregnancy they thought i was going into early labour at 26 weeks and i was told if i was that there would be nothing they could do?? maybe they meant in that particular hospital they wouldnt be equipped to deal with a premature baby that young, i dont understand how that is though!!!

In certain hospitals they wouldn't be able to have the equipment to help save the baby, my suggestion is finding a hospital that does. The hospital we are giving birth at is strictly a women's hospital and the other hospitals up the road couldn't handle deliveries, let alone premie's. xx

ya maybe i should look into which hospitals have a specialist special care baby unit for premmie's very very young... its quite hard in Ireland though, the nearest would probaly be about 2 hours away...

Congratulations on your v-day! We're due a day apart, how fun!
