Hey ladies..
I've been coming on this site and reading threads for quite some time now, but didn't join until this morning.

My husband and I have been TTC for almost a year now. I can't say we've been really trying the whole time, but we haven't been preventing. I'd say 8-9mos out of the past year we've actually tried.

Anyway, I have never been pregnant. I have a family history of hypothyroidism but when I went to the doctor, my results came up normal. My mom is convinced they're just not giving me the right tests bc hers used to come up normal until she found the right one. Her "right" doctor prescribed her Clomid and a whopping 7 years later she was pregnant. She lost the first two babies and I was number 3.

Anyway, i feel like I've done everything possible except going to the doctor. I take plenty of vitamins, I've been taking my BBT for about 10 months (ovulation, for me is not very consistent which is part of the problem) and I'm just really frustrated.:growlmad:

Has anyone experienced anything like this and still got a BFP? Where should I even get a doctor if that's what I need? (Do I just go to my GP for a referral?)

Thanks ladies... I'm feeling super discouraged at this point.

Hi Danielle,

Im from the UK so not sure if this will apply. My husband and I were ttc for a year before going to our GP who then referred us to the fertility clinic. If you have any family history or concerns I would pop and see your doctor now and see if you can't get the ball rolling. Even if they just do.some investigations it may put your mind at ease.

Good luck x

Hi. I've also been ttc for about 9 months now. I have a problem with early spotting so I went to see my GYN at around 6 months. I got a progesterone level, AMH, and ultrasound done then. I'm starting progesterone for a borderline short LP, and my husband just had his SA done. I would say go see your GP or GYN and get the ball rolling... they won't do the invasive tests like HSG and other treatments until after 1 year, but I think most will agree to do the basic tests before then just to ease your mind. I know how frustating it can be when you're doing everything right and still doesn't happen. Good luck to you.

Hey Danielle,

In my experience, I would say..be aggressive. I wish I would've been more aggressive. We are past the two year mark, and still ttc. We moved onto IUI, just had my first cycle, and I'll test Monday, 7/14. Anyways. We had all the testing done with my GYN, turned out all was normal. One miscarriage (heart breaking after over a year ttc) and being told "everything was fine" etc. we then went to my RE, and I couldn't be happier. In one cycle of iui, they've already seen two things and treated two things that may be causing our inability to stay pregnant. They tested my progesterone against more strict criteria than my GYN. I love my dr, but when it's been so long, and "unexplained" we needed special tests to catch the little stuff.

Anyways, all that to say, what if you keep waiting and have bigger fertility issues that take time? I would do all the basic blood work ASAP. Send hubby for a semen analysis. That told us so much about ourselves, I feel like I could be a RE by now, lol! You really don't want to wait. It could be a very fixable problem, and it could be something that takes time. Good luck!

Hi, can I join you ladies? I'm in the same sort of position as you guys - ntnp for over one year now and nothing.

I've literally just today seen my GP who is running the basic blood tests now (and an STI test, how embarassing?!). I'm from the UK (Leicestershire, so not too far from you Tink86) and I feel like I'm not being taken seriously because of my age.

Try to stay positive Danielle, I think you're best to go to see your GP now - even if they won't refer you to a specialist until the one year mark... at least they can get the mandatory stuff over and done with :) I'd really like a buddy for the next few months whilst I find out what's going on with me!
