Hi! Im wondering if any ladies who may be in a similar pregnancy situation to me may be able to give me their thoughts....

Im 28 weeks pregnant today and since last week, ive been experiencing pressurised and achey sensation around my cervix, for example, like when i sit and have a wee on toilet, it kind of feels like if i pushed really hard - I may be able to push baby out! Then Friday morn, i started experiencing a sequence of braxton hicks contractions that felt quite uncomfortable and twinged right through to my lower back...I prob had about 10 approximately and then they went away.
Then Saturday night/early Sunday morn, I experienced them again...this time although the were regular - like approx 4 mins apart - they were not as uncomfortable as they'd been on the friday morn - but i did feel my cervix twinging again. It all seems settled again now and have just been having the odd random braxton hicks here and there...

can anyone tell me if they thik this is normal around this stage of pregnancy with a fourth pregnancy??

Thanks. x

hello, i am the same situation. i am 29 weeks with my fourth baby, i have been having painful Brixton hicks contractions too and pressure around my cervix. Actually on Thursday i was going into labour as the pain was so strong but the midwife i spoke to said that it was normal for women who have previous pregnancy to feel pressure sooner as the head engages earlier. i was worried as my daughter was born at 32 weeks so i think i am on standby for this baby to come... :-)
but if you are worried i would give the hospital a call just to check it out... good luck baby number four. 

Hi ya!
Thanks for your reply. its nice to hear from someone in similar situation - though hearing your last one came early is not so reassuring! ha ha!

Was there any reason your last one came that early, like infection or anything? and did it start with lots of niggles? i dont know why, but im so convinced this baby is going to make an early appearance...I think ive had quite an anxious pregnancy this time round because i suffered with an ectopic just before this pregnancy...and its turned me into a nervous wreck! Was never like this with the others. my other 3 all came just 2 weeks early which was ideal - but obviously dont want a prem baby. hope your early one did ok though?

Ive got my antinatal appointment later this wk so thought i'll see how Im feeling and save it til then if all seems settled. Im pretty sure with my 3rd i started like this around 35- 36 weeks and then she was born at 38 weeks, so just surprised me to be feeling all these twinges and niggles already. I guessed it could just be weaker muscles etc... but wondereed if this has any impact on the pregnancy - such as being more likely to deliver early or prem.

Apart from your braxton hicks - you feeling ok with this pregnancy?

Hello, no there was no reasoning for my daughter to come so early, the pregnancy was really normal and with my other two boys I had to be inducted at 41 weeks, so she was a total surprise as I just stood up one day and my waters broke then three hours later she was born, She was only 2 pounds 2 but only she is a very healthy 5 year old…
I have been really panicking with is pregnancy too we have three miscarriages in two years, we had no and off bleeding with this baby un til 20 weeks.
I have a feeling that this baby will be born early too, I am very prepared this time and I have all the baby thing in.
How are you finding this pregnancy? I feel like I left to my own device and I rarely see the midwife..

Yer, i know what you mean...about not seeing anyone! I was quite frustrated as tried to book an appointment with my midwife and couldnt be seen for over 2 weeks as she was apparently fully booked!

I had been suffering in this pregnancy with what they diagnose as 'Non-Specific-Pain' in pregnancy. I ended up at A&E at about 15 weeks as id had it on and off since early on, but it was getting worse...was like a cramping around my bladder and right side (where ud imagine your tubes to be) but it also hurt when i had a wee, not from the uretha but right inside my bladder - like a cramp. The doctors and midwives were really dismissive about it and kept telling me to take pain killers! I was prescribed anti-biotics for a water infection but several lab testing results showed there was no infection, so i still have no idea what it was. had bit of pain on right side the other night too, but it went away after about 20mins or so. But in general, id say my 'non-specific pain' has pretty much subsided the last 8 weeks. Docs suggested round ligament pain but i know it is not that as i know what that feels like and is not the same...plus this is somehow connected with my bladder as i was experiencing the pain in my bladder (shooting off to right side) when having a wee. Is very odd. Ive been lucky ive not had any bleeding tho - as that must worry you quite a bit?

I should prob think about getting few more bits ready...

Sorry to hear about you miscarriages too... so, youre like me then, - this must be your 7th pregnancy? I also had 2 miscarriages (with first 2 pregnancies) Are you having a girl or boy this time? or are you patient enough to wait til the end? he he! Ivm having another girl..so 3 girls and a boy! Do you think ud ever have any more? i dont rule out a number 5! ha ha! think hubby keen for one more after this, but we'll see. My first 2 children are from a previous relationship, so i guess he wants to see if he can create a boy! ha ha!

Anyway, the braxton hicks seem to be pretty normal again now although as we speak, i can still feel pressure...cant imagine how the cervix will cope as baby gets bigger and heavier? I'll be amazed if i reach full term. (and if i have to be induced - i'll be going crazy! he he!) cant imagine how frustrating it must be to go over due! bless you! Hope that doesnt happen for you thi time round.

has your bleeding stpped now then? have you still been getting twingey pains etc? x

Nice to read about others out there with similar issues. I am just over 27 weeks now (nevermind the ticker, its wrong) and this baby has been giving me such issues. Although it is only my second, not fourth, I too have had so much pelvic pressure. Ive had it throughout most of the pregnancy and it is sometimes very painful. I have been experiencing BHC for about a month now off and on and they are usually in the early evening when I get off work. My checkups have been fine and they told me that this baby is just very low and thats causing the pressure. As far as the BHC go, the doctor as well as the lovely nurses at L&D have said for me to call them or come in for monitoring if I ever get more than 4 in an hour. They said it is ok since mine are usually sparatic and they seems to be from dehydration and working 10+ hour days. Good luck to you ladies!

Hi There!

Nice to hear from you - tho not nice to hear you're getting these niggles too! :)
Im so sore today...had loads of braxton hicks yesterday morn, and had quite a few again last night...which have made me need to pop to the loo (sorry TMI)...so the contractions must be stimuating my bowels (happened four times yesterday) and then this morn i woke up with period style pains...lingered around for several hours and then gone away again. But this afternoon, im getting shooting pains on the cervix again...this is all very confusing. Midwife yesterday just told me not to worry as baby laying low as my muscles are 'shredded'...he he!

So have you found the advice on dehydration to be correct? If you drink more - do the braxton hicks see, to go away?

You sound like youre working hard...are you up on ya feet alot too? Hope you are getting some rest at home? x

Hi, Just thought id nip back to update; I got admitted to hosp yesterday morn as my cramping pains intensified so badly. I was in such a lot of pain i was crying and whining in agony.

The docs were unable to find the cause and after 12 hours, the pains subsided again and i was sent home this morn.

Ive also been told im mesuring at 34 wks (tho im 29) and they thought i may have too much water or something. But they scanned me in hosp and then said baby looks normal size and so do waters. Very odd. But have to go back for a glucose test, to check ive not got gestational diabetes.

Still getting cramping...and often does seem slightly one sided again (on that dodgy right side) but urine tests are all clear of infection so they've not prescribed anything. they just said, if it starts up again (more regularly and intense like yesterday), ive got to go back for steroid injections to improve the baby's lungs - just in case. x

wow, so sorry to hear about having to go to the hospital. Hope all is well!
I have had a slight break from all the BHC for now. I think the fluids are helping some. I have also been taking some time to rest when I can. I do work a lot, I own a bakery, but at least I usually have the option of sitting at my desk a while if I feel crappy. This week is a slower week in the year so I have been going home early when I can.
The biggest thing I realize is how much more uncomfortable I have gotten in just the past week. I gained about 75lbs with my first 4 yrs ago (i know its terrible) and so this time around, I feel so much better not having gained all the weight. I am still under 10lb weight gain for this pregnancy. But it seems this week, he is even lower than before and it is uncomfortable to do anything. Sitting hurts, laying down in any position hurts and forget about standing up! YOW! It feels like someone tied a brick to my lady parts and I am having to support that weight. Lets just say, I want this baby to stay in as long as he can for health reasons but if he comes a little early, I wont be complaining!
I too have noticed more frequent trips to the bathroom. I used to be pretty much a once a day bowel movement kinda gal and now its seems like every few hours something is working its way out. So, I guess since you are having this too, its not so uncommon. Thats nice to know. OTher than that, doc says everything is still looking great. I go back on the 27th and will have to do my sugar test then so we will see how everything goes. Keep us updated on your status!

hello,
i am 30 weeks and have been having bad brxtn hicks for a few weeks now.
I usually get them after walking or cleaning!
I think I am a little dehydrated also and if I rest they go away.
Sometimes they are so strong that I have to stop and just breathe them out!
Doc says I may have to take pre-term labor meds but cervix is not dialated at all.
How you all doing?

Mrs O - Good to hear you are trying to take more breaks from work.... I do feel the more i do, the lower she feels...

Just a trip to do food shopping the other night, i am sure her head must have snuck in deeper as i cud almost feel that strange heavy weight between my legs and started walking like id crapped myself! ha ha!

Since then when im resting, ive not felt too bad, but if i do bit of walking...i can feel the pressure underneath and everyone keeps telling me it looks like my bump has dropped - surely this cant be coincidence if different people keep saying it?

Yesterday when i wiped after a wee, i noticed a yellowy mucus string...which im assuming was a small amount of my mucus plug... it was quite thick and stretchy. However, my braxton hicks have been really settled last few days so i feel reassured by that. i too, have been drinking lots of water so wonder if this has helped?? I have been checking closely with each trip to the loo - for any more signs of the plug...but luckily, nothing so far so im hoping was just a little one off.

Figured if i get any more signs of plug - or if pains start up again, then i will be back on phone to delivery suit to get them to check my cervix. But 30 wks today so getting closer to a more safer stage - should the worse case happen and labour starts early.

Also, know what u mean about the weight gain - i am also guilty of this... 5 stone with the first, 4 stone with 2nd and 3rd, and im doing my best this time round with only 2 stone (so far) I say ONLY!!! Thats enough as it is! But my hips feel better for it this time as last pregnancy i was in so much pain in my joints... i think was the extra strain. Its such hard work after to get it off, but luckily ive always been very determined and managed to get back down to a reasonble weight.I guess im looking at another 10lb gain if i reach ful term... but hey it'll be a record breaker for me! :)
