Okay, so wednesday night I went to l&d because baby wasn't moving as much as he usually does, so they popped me on the monitor to check him out . . .

everything was okay with baby, but it was showing I was having contractions every 5 minutes (I had no clue, what so ever, no pain, nothing!Other than my usual "ligament" pain!)

I had an internal and turns out I am 2 cm dilated!!!! (what a shock that was!)

anyway, they gave me steroids and some tablets to try and relax the contractions which eventually "stopped" (I have still got on and off period cramps throughout the day, which the doctors have said they're not sure if they're contractions, we'll see if they progress or not!)

anyway, they finally let me out yesterday, still 2 cm, still no pain! (which the docs couldn't understand, they all thought I was in because I was in pain! lol)
and said, if you go in to labour at 34 weeks plus, they won't do anything to stop it, so I might as well be at home and comfortable either way!

theres no point in me staying in!

so now, I'm at home, guessing at every niggle I have in my tummy :/

what are the chances that I'll go in to labour soon??

and will baby be okay??
(the docs said he will be, because I've had the steroids and he's a "sizeable" baby already! estimated at 5.5lbs now)

I'm just a bit nervous, under so much stress atm too!

I just want a clear answer but no one has any idea :(

ive no idea at all?? itll b interesting to see if anyone does though. good luck :) xx

Baby should be just fine, he will have a roughly 99% chance of survival. He may need to be in special care for a couple of weeks but if he is a good weight and gains weight, with no complications you should be able to take him home before his EDD.

He may have trouble regulating his own temperature and things like that at first too, but that's all normal and they should be able to get it under control. My sisters baby was born at 35 weeks and she is a healthy 1 year old.

No one can say for sure if you will go into labour but I think your chances are higher as your body has started the process by itself... just try not to worry as long as baby is showing signs of being healthy :flower:

Hun at 34 weeks bubs will be fine! And 5.5 is a very good weight :) I'm 36 wk and bubs is only 4.5 lb! Sometimes they struggle latching on when feeding when a few weeks early but apart from that there are no big complications! If uv had steroids I will guess he will hang on for another week or 2 anyway especially if u just rest, my friend was dilated very early but baby didn't come until 39 wks in the end! Just try and relax and if baby does come early then you will just get to meet sooner! :) x

thanks ladies! :)

just needing some reassurance I think! lol

he needs to cook for another week at least yet please! haha

Lol ul be fine Hun, bubs obviously wants to come abit early that's all :) even a few days makes a huge difference! U might need some little clothes though if you haven't already got some, I mite be induced next week if bubs hasn't grown so I've been out and bought a few tiny baby sleep suits! Lol my friend had her bubs last week full term and she was only 5lb8 :) if u google 34 weeks it will show you the development and give u abit more reassurance! Xx

I know I was amazed! She carried really big as well so u never can tell! At a guess I'd say her dates might have been out abit lol x

Pretty sure baby will be fine if born this early, however they might just keep him in the hospital to moniter since he'd be premie :) But best of luck and hope he sticks til he's full term! :flower:

My good friend had her baby at 34 weeks and he was only in the hospital for 8 days!

You could be like this for a few weeks, you never know. Best thing to do is rest and relax :)

Thank you ladies!!! <3

we went out and bought one "tiny baby" outfit, just to be on the safe side! early night and day of rest for me tomorrow I think!
