2cm dilated...so how long now?!

hey all. i got checked yesterday and told i am about 2 cm dilated (2nd time around, which is apparently is common at this stage), but how long do you think it will be now? a week or days???

mw seems to think i will have her in the next 2 weeks (so shouldnt go over)

what are your experiences???

I'm not sure as i've never had an internal to check dilation before, Did you ask for your is it it common practise with your midwife?

if u are 2cm dilated i should'nt imagine u waiting another 2 weeks i say the next day or 2 definatley xx

Everyones different hun, i had a sweep done last sunday and apparently i was 2-3 cm dilated, 4 days later and still no baby and im 6 days overdue :S

i went into the assessment ward as i thought my waters had started to go a few days ago and they checked me there. really want somthing to start!

Hard to say but a friend of mine has been 3 cm dilated for over a week!!! Here I am nearly 37 weeks with twins and NO dilation at all..your ahead of me Hope things start moving along for ya.

Hi!! I was 3 cm dilated a week ago, so it may take a while, I am now 39 weeks and nothing is happening, no contractions at all!

With second babies Im afraid your cervix usually is more open from the start as they often dont go back to fully closed after a birth. Ive been at 3cm since the start of this pregnancy.

Not to discourage you, but my best friend was 3 cm for 3 weeks and had to take measures at home to stimulate her cervix to bring baby on

I sat at 1cm for 6 wks and 3 cms for 2 weeks...it wasnt until I got to 5cm that I finally went into "labor" (regular contractions) but they still had to break my water and gave me pitocin to hurry things along...so it could still be a while! Hang in there!

With my daughter I was dialated 4 for a week at 37 weeks. I only had her at the end of that week due to preelampsia. So I assume you can be dialated for weeks until real labor starts.

I really don't think it matters sadly Everyone's different, I've been at 1 cm now since 36 weeks.

i was dialated a 2 at 34 weeks with my twins.. only checked that one time and i had them via c-section at 37 weeks... so it could be a while... its just that your body is starting to get ready... its always safer to not read into anything when you want it just to be over

i have been 2-3cm since 39 weeks....i'm now 40+3 and STILL waiting! I've been having contractions 10 mins apart for 5 days....still no baby.
