hi ladies. I had an ectopic in my right tube, april of this year. Right tube removed. In august we found to be pregnant again. At first it was a pregnancy of unknown location and i was treated with methotrexate 3 weeks ago. I responded well till this week. Last week my beta was 68, this week 75. They said the meth has failed. I got scanned yesterday and they have found a mass. 1.5cm. They say it looks like its in my left tube but cant be sure. I feel in my heart it is and did not want to have surgery knowing they would take away my only tube. I am being given the methotrexate again today, praying it will work to preserve my tube. My question is. . . . Has anyone gotten pregnant with one tube after there has been an ectopic in it? Or even got pregnant with one tube only thats damaged? Ivf is expensive and we do not qualify for nhs help as i have a child who is five. How much does ivf cost in the uk? Should i consider egg donation? I was thinking about this after i had finished having children myself anyway. Any stories, help and answers are gratefully received with thanks. X x

oh my god, you must be so nervous!

i don't know the odds of getting pregnant from a tube that had an ectopic but that didn't rupture.

i can tell you that your prognosis with IVF is very good... our patients that have blocked tubes or no tubes are the easiest to get pregnant with IVF, because usually everything else is in wonderful working order. it might be worth the money if it comes to that.

but lets hope it doesn't... the methotrexate should help, not sure why it failed you earlier.

best of luck, love!!!

Hi Katstar
I really feel for you x I had an ectopic that ruptured at 11 weeks. I lost my right tube and my ovary was suchured. I have tried for over 12 months to concieve again and have found my problem is adhesions from the op and previous c/s. I too have a child who is nearly 5 , ian looking into private ivf , care in Manchester and Manchester fertility services both quote between 3-4k depending on the amount of drugs you need. I wouldn't give up hope yet of a sucessful pregnancy, you managed to concieve again pretty quickly so if the save ur tube I would say you have a good chance. If not as Punch says iwas told having had a child I would have a really good chance with Ivf. Not sure about the eggs share option thou as when I looked some don't accept people with tubal issues. I really hope everything works out for you and and you get a brother or sister (or both) fir your little one x x x

Oneday and punch,

Thank you so much for your replies.

Punch do you work in a ivf clinic or something? Just wondered as you said 'our patients'. Congratulations on being pregnant too :) :flower:

Oneday i have been looking at prices at the care sheffield fertility clinic and they give you a price list of everything but it is all so confusing. I hope you get there in the end. I will pray for us both and you will have to keep me posted on how you get on if you decide to go for ivf. We will not be able to get funds together for another year yet, so hearing about it will be good for me. :flower::winkwink:

I do not know if i should give this tube another go if it gets saved or just opt straight for ivf. Its something i am going to have to discuss with my partner.

Where in ontario are you punch? I am in ontario too and am waiting for surgery to have my tubes removed and then onto ivf - do you work in a clinic???

Hi,
I had my first ectopic in my right tube 6 years ago.
The tube ruptured and I had it removed.
I got prgnant 2 years later without trying and had my baby girl.
I had my second ectopic in october 2008 in my left tube and was advised to have the tube removed as the pregnancy was large and would have damaged the tube so much that I would only have another ectopic.
I insisted that I kept the tube and had methatrexate twice.
it was three months before my hormone level was back to normal after having blood tests every week.
I concieved naturally in february 2009 and was shocked that the pregnancy was in the right place. I am expecting a boy in 6 weeks.
There are certain days when it is best to try to give the egg chance to get down the tube.
It is possible without IVF.
Good Luck to you and if you have any questions please message me back.
xxxxx

Hi there, first of all I am so sorry about your ectopics. I had one in march and lost that tube, the other is abnormally long and it doesnt look good on the other side although I am on clomid.

Punch is right your prognosis for IVF is very good and my consultant is convinced if all else fails that is a good avenue for pregnancy.

I feel bad that in amonst the pain of surgery and methotrexate you are worrying about IVF costs! I think you could try to make a case to you health board for free ivf on account of this.

I am currently looking to go to norway next spring, as it is much cheaper there (if you want details let me know).

Please look after yourself hun. You sound as if you are being ever so brave. Please PM me if you want to chat. XXX

Just wanted to wish you luck and tell you that I am sorry about all that you have been through. :hugs: xx
