So, I has to take a three hour test. However, they were only able to do the fasting draw and I still had 25 minutes until they could even do the first blood draw before I threw up and that ended that one.

Called the OB, waiting to hear back about what they want me to do. Seeing as I wasn't able to make this test at all and throwing up kind of snuck up on me, would it just be easier to look for an alternative? Is there even one instead of the 100g of pure sugar drink. Pretty much at a lost on ideas since I'm sure if I threw up once, I'll end up doing it again. >_> I rather.. avoid this.

So if you can get a glucometer you can take your blood sugar readings at home after meals to make sure they're in the normal range. I'm not sure if that's ok with your OB... undiagnosed GD is not something you want to be dealing with. Your baby has a lot more risks if you don't control your blood sugar.

Oh, no, no. I want to to whatever they need to as well, I have no interest in risking my daughter's health or my own.

I meant an alternative as something other than the sugar drink they give you. Buuut! After wait f to hear back they're sending me right back to the specialist I already see to monitor my blood sugars.

I have heard of people doing Jelly beans but just on the internet. I doubt they'd go for it. That drink is gross though, and doing it in the time limit is hard. I usually feel really sick and ask to get a room with a bed so I can lie down. Ask for that next time if you have to do it, almost all the labs have one. Say you get really light headed and feel really ill and would like to have a bed. Might make it a tiny bit more tolerable. :(

They might have different flavors....I think I've heard of that. Maybe lemon/lime would be better on your tummy.

I agree with above, also ask for a private room and lie down. I was sitting in a huge busy waiting room the entire time with my previous pregnancy and I just felt SO GROSS.

I say just try again. I have read on here of plenty of ladies who threw up the first time but we’re fine the second. I agree, ask if they have different flavors. I’ve done both like and orange, and orange reminded me of flat orange soda so I preferred lime. Was it chilled? I have had it both chilled and room temp and chilled was much easier to take. I didn’t sip. I plugged my nose and chugged both times. I did get queasy at my three hour but I was able to breathe through it until the sensation passed and I just got a headache and hangry lol.

Good luck! Kudos for being willing to endure
