30 weeks-4lb baby???

Hey

So OH and I went for a private 30 week growth and well-being scan yesterday and got to see our little girl for the final time on screen. As the lady was conducting the scan she was doing the measurements and I kept seeing the screen say 31+ and 32+. So when she had finished and wrote down the measurements, they were as follows:

Biparietal diameter: 81/ 32+4
Head circumference: 292/ 32+2
Abdominal circumference: 276/ 31+5
Femur length: 60/ 31+2

EKW: 1.8kg/4lbs!!!!

I am now panicking as everything I read says she should be 3lbs at week 30 (I was 30+2 when scanned). Am I set to have a big/early baby???

I've no idea about weights but I do know at my growth scan at 28+3 my baby weighed 2lb 15oz, so almost 3 lbs. I know the estimated weight can be really hit and miss though. My friend had lots of scans due to complications and each one said she would have a 9-10lb baby. Her little girl arrived at only 5lb 4oz! It really is only an estimate. x

At 31 weeks our baby was 4.7 lbs and we r having another growth scan tomorrow because he's still measuring 3-4 weeks ahead, dr told me depending on his size on the scan tomorrow we can discuss options on being induced or potential c-section depending on how big he is, I'm hoping for a csection being I'm also having some BP issues.

Did she plot your results on a graph for you to see visually where you are within the normal range? I had a growth scan privately at babybond at 32 weeks. I was estimated 4.9lb and showed me I was a touch above the average line. I would say you're on target. Xx

At 31 weeks my little man was 4lbs 7oz but they were not in the slightest worried. I am expecting a 9+lb baby and I have to have a sweep a week early but apart from that...no special requirements.

My baby weighed 2lb8oz at 28 weeks!

I would worry too much chick babies tend to grow at their own rate after the initial 20 weeks so your baby might have had a growth spurt early on and will probably slow down later on.

I don't think its very accurate from the scan to be honest, I wouldn't worry about it. I had a 30 week 4D scan and she said predicted weight at that point was 3 3/4lb and all the measurements were average, baby has been measuring spot on the whole way through so I'm not expecting a big baby. I think baby's size has more to do with if you go overdue or not!! x

at 32.4 weeks mine was 4lb 13oz approx, they havent said its gonna be a huge baby, they think if it carries on along the line its following and i carry til 40 weeks it will be just over the 8lb mark

Thanks guys, maybe I was just hoping she would come earlier as I am soooo over being pregnant now! And, really don't want to have a big baby- hubby's grandfather was 13lbs and so everyone is now telling me the same may happen as she is already quite big!

I have been told to expect a big baby at 32 + 3 he was estimated to weighing 5lb 2 oz and they said he should of been about 4lb so yours sounds fine to me

I had a scan yesturday at 30+3 and he was 3lb 13oz. I think he is a bit on the big side, but will see what the MW will say. He is alright according to the graph...

They didn't give me a graph so will do the same a check with midwife next time I see her.

I had growth scans in my last pregnancy because my stomach was measuring 4 weeks to small at 32 weeks they told me she weighed 5lbs 2 oz and when she was born at 40+4 she was only 6lbs 15oz so i wouldnt read too much into it they are not very accurate!!!!

I had a scan last week at 31 + 3 and baby was 2lb 13oz. With my first I was told at 37 weeks she was 7lbs, had her two weeks later at 39 weeks and she was 6lb 2oz. I think what they say is only a guessimate!

I was estimated 2lbs 14 oz at 28 weeks then 3lbs 14 oz at 30+1

She is 85th centile so at the top of the lines but still within them.

No-one has said anything other than "we'll keep an eye on it" so I'm just keeping an open mind. One thing is for sure I can't do much about it hahaha

my friend had obstetric cholestosis and had her son @ 30 weeks and he weighed 5lb2!!!!!!!!!!!

i wouldnt worry about baby coming early tho big babies are often just as late as petite ones

I have never been told my estimated babies weight :-/ and nothing documented on my notes. Can I just ask midwife ??am 28weeks

At 32 weeks my baby was 4lbs 10ozs and where I am, that's the 50%.

Also, these measurements are a guess... it's very difficult to get accurate measurements on US on a lil bean floating in fluid. For instance at 37weeks, my first son "measured" 10lbs. I had a Csection the following day and he was 8lbs.
