33 week consultant appointment, what to expect?

Hi, i have my 33 week consultant appointment tomo and was wondering what to expect. All has been ok with baby i just have them cos i have a heart arrithmia. The last ones have been with a foreign scary little man lol but apparantly this one is with a woman OB. When i asked why the midwife said prob cos i havent seen a woman consultant??? Does this mean i am gona be poked and proded lol. and why??

I saw a consultant last week.

She only measured my bump and listened like the MW normally does and we talked about a couple of things - although I got the feeling overall like it was 'too soon' to get into proper discussion on anything.

The only thought/concern with me was how to labour, so really we just have to see how things progress. I really just wanted it in my notes that this was a factor so that on the big day I don't find myself wanting to rip the head of anybody who doesn't know/understand.

at my 33 week appointment it was a female i saw, i wasn't poked or prodded all i had was my BP done! I had had a scan though previously to check the growth. So i would imagine you might get the fundas height done and a wee feel about your tummy. As for down there, last time around i was 36 weeks before anyone touched me down there, and that was only because i had had a little bit of bleeding they had to take swabs. I have heard most woman get away with not being poked or prodded 'down there' until they actually go into labour xx

It really varies from region to region.

At my 33 week consultant appointment I got a surprise scan. The Consultant brings the portable scanner over to our local medical preactice every Monday apparently. Then I saw my m/w who did the usual BP/Urine checks.

I didn't get this with my dd though. Just a 'chat' with the Consultant and that was it!
