I had my growth scan yesterday after weeks of trying to get my midwife and consultant to listen to me about my concerns with baby being small.

The consultant that did my scan was the same person who delivered my son, so he knew a little bit about my history with small babies.

I am little worried as at the same stage of my pregnancy with my son he also measured 32 weeks and they wanted to get him out the following week.

This time though they are waiting it out. They are sending me for another scan next week. I think the only difference this time is the fluid levels. last time they were on the low side. this time they've said it's normal. He also weighs a little more then my first did at this stage.

The reason why I am worried is because he's dropping on the growth chart. at my scan at 32 weeks he was in the middle of the bottom line and the middle line. Now he's on the bottom line for his weight and stomach.

Has anyone gone through something similar.
As much as I've got to the point where I just want baby out as I've been to the hospital 6 times over the last 2 and half weeks because of cramping, tightenings and reduced movements I just want him to be ok.

Similar to me Hun baby's measuring small an is under bottom line but they have said its fine an come back in 2 weeks!! Doc said small baby is fine aslong as there's growth it's a non growing small baby that's a prob! It makes me very nervous, my daughter was 8lb 2 so I didn't have this worry at all! It's just makes me think round baby not b better out? How comes they got ur son out??

Everyone that sees me always says omg ur bumps tiny etc!! X

it is very nervous having wait to find out whether baby is growing or not.
They got him out because we was way below the bottom line then they would have liked and my placenta stopped working like it should.
luckily at the moment is all looks good but some of his growth is slowing which is worrying me. I was surprised when the consultant wanted to do another scan next week, I always thought they had to wait 2 weeks before doing another scan. I think that's just adding to the worry.
it is easier to do things with a small bump, which I guess is one of the plus sides.

My growth scans estimated my baby would be between the 50th and 55th percentiles. I had three, each said the same thing. Well, she was born in the 96th percentile.

My cousin's estimated that she would have a 9+ lb baby. Her baby ended up 7.5 lbs.

So....these things are not too reliable, that's for sure! I'm honestly not even sure why they bother.

Hi littlesteph, hugs, I've been following you this last week waiting for an update. I am having preeclampsia and hypertension issues the last 3-4 weeks which are progressing quickly now. At 26+2 my baby was measuring at 25 weeks (femurs were measuring at 24+2) and I've been holding my breath waiting to have another growth scan, which is finally tomorrow. I know ow scary this is and I just wanted to send a hug and say I'm in the same boat. I'm praying for a 3 lb baby tmrw but know we could get bad news considering how sick I'm getting with pre-e, I was given two rounds of steroid shots the last 2 days so they may be preparing to take lo out this week, more reason to pray he has gained. Anyhow, keep us posted, I pray for the safe arrival of your lo. :hugs:

so sorry your going through all that so early. I hope your scan goes well and they keep baby in a little longer

My baby is 2lb 2oz now so well below the lines but they've said as long as each fortnightly scan shows a steady growth then I'm ok.
I know its horrible waiting but the next scan really will show how well he's doing & I'm sure that if there's a problem they will get him out.
Keep the thread updated hun, I'm interested to see how you & baby get on next week xxx

it is horrible waiting, I'm just glad I only had to wait a week for my next one,
2 weeks would be such a killer for me, purely because I've gone through it with my first.
I hope your baby shows some growth at the next scan. xx

Growth scan tomorrow.
After going to hospital again with reduced movements and being on the ctg machine for a good half hour 40 minutes before baby moved and with all the irregular "tightenings" they'll decided to get him out.
Some how though I don't think that's going to happen.

feb 21st, so when I am 39 weeks.
Had my scan today, they are happy with baby's growth so are leaving me to go to my section date, relieved that he is growing.
ended up having to go the ctg machine again, lack of movement. he only moved twice while I was on there, was on there nearly an hour. Still having irregular tightenings. Some are really painful.
that's every day since sunday so far.
One of the midwives there told me that he is moving I'm just not feeling it. I don't get how I can feel him move so much before and now hardly feel him move.

Good news he's grown, what's his estimated weight now.
Always get checked if you worry about movement, better to be safe than sorry. You are so close to meeting your baby now, bet you'll be so relieved when he's finally here.
Is that the last growth scan you'll have? Xxx

They never said, and they didn't write it down.
going on his growth from the 2 scans before I'm guessing he'll be about 5lbs now.
So come my section date he should be between 5 and a half pounds and near on 6lbs.
I can't wait to hold him.
Nope they aren't doing anymore growth scans now, as I only have a little over 2 weeks to go and they don't like doing scans too often.

Little Steph, you and I had our babies days apart last time and they both suffered IUGR.
I was made to 'wait it out' with my daughter and was induced at 37 weeks - she weighed 5lb 4 and was on the 0.4% centile so way below the bottom line, she was small but was really healthy because of the extra couple of weeks.
I know it's scary - I convinced myself of the worst & at one point I was in daily for CT scans but the doctors know what they are doing and they do monitor you really closely.

Did they find a cause for your IUGR? They didn't with mine - they suggested that maybe I just have teeney babies (I'm not so sure as I'm almost 6ft lol) but this could just be the reason.

I'm pregnant again now as well and really hope I don't go through the same thing again but it seems quite common to happen twice.

Good luck & please keep us updated xxxx

My last two babies were classed as IUGR so I'm being monitored every x2 weeks this time. With my last x2 it got to the point where I was having fortnightly growth scans and x3 weekly Doppler scans to monitor placenta function. We had a few touch and go "delivering today" scares but we managed to get to 38 weeks both times.
The real worry is if baby does not grow in that two week window. My growth chart is tailored to my own children (assume this is general practice ?) and my first four were all near the 9lb mark and my last x2 barely 6lbs. Same father (the Consultant asked in front of DH much to his surprise!!!) but maybe it's as I'm older (37) who knows? My growth chart is a lovely wave pattern this time as baby is below 25th centile on scans but due to too much fluid this time my "tape" measurements are off the scale !!!
Every week closer to EDD the better for us all - and importantly baby! Fwiw my growth scan weights have been very accurate and babies born within a few ozs of predicted weight
X

I have my scan Tom, I'm feeling a bit nervous, I also have found the last couple of weeks have really dragged to! I have become very paranoid an has trouble sleeping! I'm 36 +3 tommorow an in a way I'm hoping he's not gonna let me go to 40weeks! I'm worried all the time, googling everytging! X

I was told my placenta had stopped working, and that he was small because I am.
I've had 5 scans to make sure baby is growing ok, at my last scan they were happy with his growth as he is following the same line as the scan before that. they've said he is small but it's too be expected because I am, and that I am one of those people who have small babies.

congrats on your pregnancy, hope it goes well for you xx

I was the same till they told me they were happy with babies weight. Now that I have reached term I want him out, just because of all the Braxton hicks, contractions and reduced movements.
I went into hospital Friday night because I was getting pains every 5 to 9 minutes.
when I got there my heart rate was 110 which they were worried about, baby was 2/5 engaged and I was contracting every 20 minutes according to the ctg monitor. As I was not dilated not even a cm. I got sent home and told if they get closer together or more painful then to go back. they soon fizzled out. :(
baby feels like he's popped out of engagement as well now.
