The doctor didnt say much about this but still I am worried because I have to have a c section and I havent prepared myself for actual labor and I feel like its kinda early to start dilating & I'm scared of going into labor, is there anything i can do to keep myself from dilating any further, am I supposed to be super lazy now or what? I've heard that doing too much physically can speed up the process, but being that this is my first pregnancy I am pretty clueless about it all. & Since i have started dilating does this mean my baby has dropped, It looks to me like shes sitting lower, but once again I'm a first timer so who am I to say lol

hey hun! You can start dialating weeks before! Just watch for contractions :)

My cousin was 1-2cm dialated at her 36 week exam. almost 4 cm at her 40 week, went overdue by 10 days and needed to be induced!!! Don't worry, you can be dialated for quite a while!

TBH I was a little disappointed I wasn't dialated AT ALL at my 36 week appointment. My cervix was still high, closed, firm, and posterior. Doesn't guarentee that I'll go over either.

Hi, dont know if you remember me? I am the lady with hip problems who is also having a scheduled c-section, mine is on Tuesday 10th May. I just want to say I sympathise - my LO's head is starting to engage and I have dropped drastically, so I am very worried about going into labour before c-section day! But midwife has said if it happens just call as soon as possible to let them know I am coming in - and that I will have enough time to jump in the shower and get there within the hour. How far away is your hospital and have you discussed a plan if you go into labour before c section date? PM me if you want, Loui xx

Glad you posted this. I am about 1/2 cm dilated yesterday. OB said that she didn't think that I would go into labor next week, but that it is very possible that I might at 38 weeks but she didn't seem concerned about it either. OH was worried about having sex(semen can make you go into labor) and OB said that holding off for a few weeks would be fine, but that if I make it to 37 weeks to "have at it".

Keep in mind though.. I have been having contractions for like two weeks (not huge ones, just feels like menstrual cramps) and that I am high risk.. so they might be saying it because of that....

I bled a little after my cervical exam too....

I was dilated 2cm at 32 weeks.

Where are you now? Are you just hanging at 2cm? Did you have any cramping or pressure?

Yep still 2cm. I've been having alot of BH since I found out, but I haven't changed any. I was freaked out at the beginning also, I have having a section too. But I haven't had any pressure or anything like that, just the BH, which can get pretty strong at times (went to the hospital a couple of times) and I haven't dilated anymore and my cervix hasn't gotten softer or anything...

My doctor just said that alot of women dilate quick but b/c most doctors don't check until 36(ish) weeks, they never know that they are dilated...

:)

I just about a cm dialated also. And the doc said her head was very very low. I've been feeling loads of pressure down there too.
And all he said was that I wasn't going to go into labour that day.... so I'm curious with this thread.

That's where I am too. I feel like sometimes I am going to pee my pants or that I have to do number 2. I also have cramps.. not BH... I feel pain, but they are just nuisance pains. OB not concerned but perinatologist said he was concerned I wouldn't make it to 40 weeks.

I am very curious how many people dilate early and then have early labor. Everyone I know that has had a baby dilated later on.

I had the painful cramps too... kept me up til 6am the other day. I told him this and he just said it was false labour and it would only get worse. I hate living in the bathroom. Feels like as soon as I drink anything it comes right back out. Haha. Everyone thinks I will be early too. But she's kinda on the smaller size (40 percentile) or a little over 5lbs. So hopefully she cooks a tad longer. I get a that feeling tho that she's gonna be here sooner than later.
