Ok so as title says i have a 36 weeks appointment coming up soon and was just reading up on what to expect and i came across a site that mentioned that by this time they would be checking for cervical effacement. I was wondering if this was true and also if it is is it really done with their fingers up your poonky?

I live in london if that makes any difference.

They tend to try not to do internal exams unless absolutely neccessary. They say its because of the risk of infection.

And yes they use their fingers up your lady bits - how else do you think it'd be done? lol

I never had an iternal at my 36 week appointment, i have one now every appointment thats only because of early labour and me dialting already. So i wouldnt worry to much maybe at your 38 week one you MIGHT get one but prob be 40+ weeks :) XxxX

I made a thread about this too, but along i went to my appt and nope, didnt even mention it! I think they try and wait as long as they can to do that kinda thing! xx
